"Churching" is something Orthodox and Old Catholics do. Traditionally, a woman wasn't allowed in church after childbirth until the baby's baptism (this has to do with holdovers from Jewish purity laws). So there was a special ceremony for letting her back in the church again.

I have absolutely never heard the word "church" used like that before... it must be solely in the catholic religion, I'm assuming. I can tell you this, though... the word "church" in the Bible refers to the people as a whole who have given their lives to Christ and become a spiritually-connected organization or body. It literally means in the Greek "The called out ones." Jesus used it in once in the gospels in response to Peter's revelation that he was indeed the prophesied Christ: "On this rock (of revelation knowledge) I will build my church, and the very gates of Hell will not prevail against it."

From the biblical teaching, the only way to become a part of Jesus' church (also known as His body on earth) is to accept him as Lord and Savior, which is demonstrated by public baptism in his name after repenting for our sins and accepting his death as our own (Acts 2:38-40, Romans 6:1-10, Romans 10:8-10) Many people join an organized church but never really accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior; therefore, they never truly become a part of the church Jesus refers to.

I strongly encourage you, after eveyone has shared their opinions, to check out what the Bible has to say about it. Then you'll know directly from the source!
