Maybe some, they can relate to little ones feelings, but a lot of people who work with children had wonderful childhoods and enjoy children.
People who can do the work they love have the best job in the world.

I think people work with children because they want to have some sort of part in the way they grow up and who or what they turn out to be. Children are very easy to influence so if you work with children then maybe you can help to stop them turning into tearaways or trouble makers later in life.
I respect people who work with children for having the patience to do so, because i know i haven't.

With 37 years experience in education that would infer that I'd had the childhood from Hell!
I would say that just the opposite is true - that if you have had really positive experiences as a child you are more likely to want to make similar experiences available to more children.
Philanthropic or what?

too many psyche courses, dude !nope,i enjoyed my childhood, even if i was briefly called fatty in 5th grade !other than that little glitsch,no trauma! i took teaching because my parents thought journalism major=flipping burgers, and having known some english/journalism majors, had to agree at that time.teaching seemed fun,as i am naturally controlling, judgemental and pendantic.i didnt last too long, didnt enjoy it as much as i thought i would.i own my own business, now.most of the other teachers i met didnt seem to have had troubled pasts, more that they had a passion for learning, and the ability to drone on and on about what they know.not traumatised-but long-winded.

Possibly.
Although some people just enjoy the energy and childishness of children.

I believe that the people who have these occupations do so because they truly care about helping others. It may be true that some of them help others because that had desired someone to help them in the past but I think that most just want to give what they can to better others.

not necessarily and not at the case of my younger sister. she was so blessful when she was a child with loving siblings and parents. she has surmounted with love and everything. she loves children and in fact working with special childrens, as a way for her to share the blessings she had as a child.

it could, but not necessarily. do you think all teachers had unhappy childhoods? my sister likes working with kids, and she didn't have a bad childhood. i think for some people who did, it can be therapuetic to help other kids but that you should not assume that people had a bad life because they work with kids!
