you and your pup will be fine. THe vet wouldn't do it if she was too young.

She is not too small and she is definitely not too young. The sooner, the better.
As someone mentioned, some humane societies spay and neuter at 8 weeks. My pup was spayed when I got her and she was 8 weeks old and weighed four pounds. I now have a happy, healthy 18 month old dog,.
If your vet thought that she was too young or too small, he or wouldn't be performing the surgery..

Five mothns is fine. They can be done younger. It depends on what the vet feels comfortable doing. I know htey do pups as young as 10 weeks.
I have my females done at 5 months and all of them have been fine.
The benefits of spaying are far better than not having it done.

Im taking on in tomorrow that is five lb and 8 weeks. The earlier the better. My border collie was done at two months and yuo can't even see her scare since she did most of her growing after the spay.

No, my vet said that my yorkie could have been neutered at 10wks. My mom just had her yorkie spayed at 6mo, she was around 4 lbs. Check with your vet, they will no better for the specific breed.

Nope, they will do it earlier than that. It is a great thing to do tho...if it is a female getting spayed it stop's her from "going into heat" and for boy dog's it stop's them from "spraying everywhere"!
They will be fine. Good luck!

My yorkie/chi mutt was spayed at 11 weeks. She was a rescue dog and that's how they do it at most shelters.
