I have gone to about a million stores and tried on on a few swimsuits, but I just can't find a swimsuit for my Hawaii vacation in 2 weeks. I didn't even think about shopiing for it during the summer, and now it's fall, and there are no swimsuits anymore. I don't swim often, so I don't wanna spend a lot of money on a swimsuit in Hawaii. Do you think I would look retarded without one? I'm not really gonna go swim while I'm there anyway...probably just play in the water a bit...HaHa! Tell me what you think...I'm one to any suggestions you may have, but just keep my concerns in mind, and the fact that I have searched high and low for a swimsuit already!

You will not look out of place without a swimsuit! I've been to Hawai`i several times and didn't even need one. If you're not planning on swimming, why stress out about getting a swimsuit? And keep in mind that there are plenty of things to do in Hawai`i other than those that require a swimsuit!
If you're just planning to play in the water, my recommendation is to do what the locals do and invest in a pair of board shorts. They're comfy, dry quickly and a *lot* of locals wear them to the beach. You can find some on the cheap on ebay...or you can wait 'till you get to Hawai`i (you should be able to find some that are reasonably priced while you're out there).

I don't think you would look retarded without a swimsuit in Hawaii. . .but I do think you sound like and idiot for asking this question! Notice I didn't use the term retard or retarded because those are handicap conditions the person can not help. . .however. . .you could help being an idiot! If you can't find a swimsuit you like you are either too picky. . .or are looking for a magical swimsuit to make your dumpy figure look good. . . or both! If you have a good body. . swim in your panties and bra. . . . that is very sexy!

I'm sure you can probably find some cool ones there! The you can tell people - I got this in Hawaii!
Don't sweat it, get yourself a bathing suit - there will be a lot of people there who shouldn't be wearing what they'll be wearing, so grab something comfy and enjoy the surf! Life's too short, and how often are ya gonna get to Hawaii anyway?

I think you should consider going to a "second hand store" or a recycled clothing store, Espically if you really are that worried about it.
I also think that you should look at sporting goods stores and look in the "athletic whear" section of stores like Target and Wal-Mart.
I have seen plenty of LYCRA shirts and shorts that work great for just dipping your toes in the water, or going for a full on swim. They are made of the same material that swimming suits are and are pretty comfy as well.
I would also suggest going to a "BOARD SHOP" or ANY local boat store, and SOMETIMES the hot tub stores or local underwhere shop has swimming suits year round.
I personally like putting on a pair of "board shorts" over my bikinni bottoms because of the obvious sighns of me beeing a mom on my body that I dont mind hiding. You can also look for BLACK or Dark colored Sports Bras to whear while you are down there.
Hopefully you find something that 'suits' your trip.

Trust me you wont be the only one there without a swim suit. And you can still have fun on the beach without one. Shorts are fine and you can wear almost what ever you want. People don't stare at you just because of what your wearing due to so many tourist that go there. But you do want to dress appropriately to the warm weather so that you will be comfortable

Go to PacSun if they have one near you. Yes you need a swimsuit in Hawaii, and you would look foolish not wearing one when you're playing in the water. It sounds like you're being way too picky. Just get a suit and go, no big deal. If you can't find one here, get one in Hawaii, it's as simple as that.

you don't want to spend a lot of money on a swimsuit there? be advised, "there" is a state of the union. you're not going to cancun. surprise, there are k marts and such in hawaii, and with a much better selection of summerwear then you probably find in your hometown (since it is always summer there).
enjoy your trip and don't forget to buy extra strong sun-blocker.

Take it from a guy that's spent several years in Hawaii, there are many many people on the beach wearing cut offs, and even long pants!!! No you won't look stupid, just not as sexy!!! So relax have fun and maybe hit a nude beach on the north shore!!!
