I am for capitol punishment, but I am torn on the juveniles being tried as adults at all, so I don't think I would condone the death penalty for a juvenile.
Believe it or not, a teen still doesn't have the maturity when it comes to reasoning that an adult does (hense the rebellion of teens, and them doing things just to spite an adult - if they were mature in their ability to reason, they would understand why the rules are there and deal with them). So to hold them to the same standards as an adult is WRONG.
Don't get me wrong: I think they should be punished. And if they murder someone, I think they should spend more than just the time until they are 18 incarcerated. But I don't think that just throwing them away or "deleting" them is the answer, either. They need therapy. There is obviously something wrong upstairs for a child to wish to kill another human being. And I think we might want to look at the parents if the child is young enough. They are guiding these children. It NEVER entered my mind to kill another human when I was young - for simple fear of my father's wrath alone, but I was taught it was very wrong.
I think we need special housing for those offenders, one that includes therapy and counceling for them so that at some point in their lives, they might become productive members of society. Otherwise, they are just thrown away, like our society is inclined to do with them right now.

the death penalty should be purely abolished
the skyrocketing US crime rates are a plain and honest answer that repressive law enforcement and justice is a total failure and a unconditionnaly wrong stance to fight crime
one of the best ways to fight crime would start in providing adequate social care, housing for the homeless and give the youth some hope that tomorrow they would have a decent life without dealing dope or guns.
perhaps the trillions of dollars spent on war would be better served if spent within the country?

Yes, a good example would be the kids who killed 13 and wounded 21 in the Columbine shooting. They should definately have been given the death penalty.
If penalties for criminal offenses were stronger, there would be less crime. did you know that china has one of the worlds lowest crime rates? It is because the Chinese people have harse penalties for criminals. China China performed more than 3400 executions in 2004, amounting to more than 90% of executions worldwide. And they still have death by firing squad and hangings.
People don't mess around in china.

I think it definitely depends on the crimes and how many times it was committed. If the kid was a serial murderer than yes the death penalty should be in effect.

No. I think that the list of countries that execute juveniles is not very appealing. The US should not join this exclusive fraternity of nations: Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen!
