Religions are simply mythologies that still have followers.

Religion is what you personally believe to be a true and valid moral path.

Everything else is mythology.

The ancient Greek faith is considered "mythology" because our world is currently dominated by Abrahamic mythologies. There are no real organized churches or religions based on the Greek mythos specificly. However, the belief in the Norse gods is recognized as a religion because of Asatru, which is the organized church representing that mythos.

As jacked up as that sounds, those are really the only distinctions between religion and myth.

Interesting question because the Greek government recently allowed the practice of the ancient Greek religion along with full acceptance that it IS a religion.

All religion is based on a mythological construct. All, in their own way, try to explain how the universe came into existence and how one should conduct their life. All mythology speaks to this.

i think it needs to be affirmed by the state. if not, i would say it's just down to the number of people who believe. greek mythology WAS once the religion of the greeks!

Religion has precepts and rules for living to stay in good graces with your god, mythology is just the nice stories without the rules.

Because historians have provided evidence for Christ's existance there has been no proof for these greek gods such as hercules, Zeus, etc. And since he did exist its up to the individual to either believe him that he was really God in flesh as he says he was or a lunatic.

I don't know good question though. I think the two are the same things I mean they both have sort of fairy tale stories that teach values and lessons. I guess the difference is that alot of people are practicing religion.

Mythology is simply dead stories or religion that is not widely accepted as truth. Religion is just alive mythology.

They are the same. The line became blurred when monotheism became more popular. If there is a god or gods, could one really handle everything? I don't think so. I would believe in gods more than a single god.

Religion is what you believe today.
Mythology is what you believed yesterday.
Today's religion will be tomorrow's mythology.
