Cats do that! They aren't as loyal as dogs and are more independent. My cat that i had for 13 years all of a sudden moved into a house at the end of my road. I tried bringing her back home, but every time she went back.
There is no stopping them when they want to go! unfortunately!

Have you moved recently and she is wanting to find your old home?
Maybe keep her in for a little while longer after she has returned? This will give her a larger territorial feeling for where she lives.
If she continues, maybe try fitting her with a microchip (link below).
My cat disappeared for longer than usual and, although she turned up the next day, it was comforting to know that if someone had found her and took her to a rescue centre/vet, they would scan her and call me instantly.
It doesn't hurt them to have it fitted and costs £20-30

Not sure baby but it could be something to do with a selfish streak within the female cats as my female cat has done the disappearing act on me and I was heart broken yet when she returned she acted as if nothing had happened and went straight back out. ????

Is the cat spayed? It's possible that she runs away to see a "male friend" or two. If you can find out where she goes, that might help solve the mystery.

watch the doors more closely when going in and out. I found that throwing a toy when I'm leaving helps a lot. they go chasing after the toy and I'm free to leave the house with out any problems.
