There's lots of things i eat now that i didn't as a child!
I remember not wanting to eat burgurs (when i went to McDonalds i would only ever get nuggets and chips), and i never used to like pizza, and then i would only eat Hawaiian pizza, but now - the more toppings the better!!
I would only eat "normal" home-cooked meals (eg meat and veg) and was scared to try foreign food - now i eat chinese, thai, indian, mexican, ethiopian - i love to try all the different culture's foods!
I used to love just plain gravy on my meats, not even with salt and pepper - now i love to experiment with spices and seasoning, and i put pepper on nealy everything!
I think it's part of growing up, and moving away from your comfort zone, and actually WANTING to try new things. I still don't like brussel sprouts, tho.

My answer:

Garlic - I used to vomit when I accidently put garlic (mixed with vegetables or meat) in my mouth from the stir-fried dishes - my mom put it in every stir-fried dish, so do I now.
Celery - I picked all the little celery cubes out from the salad till I turned 20, now I enjoy having it raw, may be it's an adult's veg.
Raw onion slice - I used to hate the smell but now I like to add some raw onion slice in my tuna sandwich. The reason is same as celery.
Raw seafood - I saw my grandpa ate some raw prawns when I was a kid and I was shocked and since then I thought eating raw meat was very uncivilized until I went to Tokyo for college, I jumped the huddle and now I really enjoy eating sashimi, sushi and even raw beef (especially kobe beef)
Coriander - I hated it like garlic and I couldn't eat it and picked it out carefully from soup, Thai salad, noodle, etc. till, well..., around 6 years ago, suddenly, I liked the flavour it adds on the dish then I like it in spicy Thai food and now I enjoy eating it raw, it really amazed me.

I think travelling to different countries make my eyes open and I'm willing to try new food so as to respect the other cultures.

Mine was MEATS! Any kinds, it didn't matter! I couldn't look at it or touch it! Sounds strange I know, but now I'm a Chef! I got cancer a few years back and now I can't get enough of Beef or Chicken. I still don't like pork but I can prepare it! Seems kinda weird but I just couldn't understand why anyone would eat something that was living. Now, I crave meat especially beef! Okay now you all know! Hmm, think I'll go cook a steak! Now look what you started! Ha ha ha

yep, I grew up basically under a soul food diet. Broccoli was considered "white people" food.
Chinese food was introduced to me by my aunt but I didn't start back eating it until I was an adult.
The exotic/tropical fruits were not even mentioned back in the '70's. Now I like papayas, guavas, mangoes.

I was brought up with a vegetarian mother. For years I remained strictly veggie- until I met my current boyfriend. It started small, the odd piece of roast chicken, tuna sandwiches, that sort of thing. Now I'm on rare steak, ostrich burgers, rack of lamb roast and black pudding. It just goes to show that what you once would never eat is always worth trying.

I hated anything spicy or too bitter. Now, I have an adventurous palette. For example, I now love thai food.

This is because as young children the taste buds on our tongues are very keen and sensitive to many different taste sensations.

Then, as we age, our taste buds become less keen and it takes a bit more work for the food we eat to make an impression on them.

2/ Fish. I love it now.
3/ Prawns. I love them now.
4/ Spring rolls.God, they are heaven.
5/ Jaffa cakes, which I recently discovered.

Asparagus. I HATED asparagus. When I was in my mid 20s, I started liking it. Not really sure why--my grandmother made it with dinner one night, I tried it, and have loved it ever since! Seriously, I could eat a whole bunch of it as a meal and be fine with it.

Brussels sprouts are the most obvious, although I don't know when it was that I discovered that they were actually alright! I am actually way more fussy now than I used to be. Although I think that is based around things that are easy to cook and things that aren't!!

brussel sprouts and cabbage. Sprouts cos they tasted bitter to me now i dont mind it so much and they're great with cheese sprinkled on top. Cabbage at school, it was always a sloshy slimy mess. Cooked decently and it's great, the savoy especially is great in soups.
