Go to Home Depot. Buy an extendable roller handle, 9" rollers with a 3/8" nap. Buy the Behr Ceiling Paint. I recently picked up some Glidden Ceiling Paint that is pink and then turns white when it dries. The problem was that it dried dull, it felt like chalk. It's gross. The Behr is brighter, smoother. Buy a little ladder with three steps so you don't kill your shoulder blades. Don't forget the paint tray to pour the paint into. I use the plastic liners also, they are only $.70 a piece and save alot on cleanup. The key is to prepare the job. It takes the most time to tape off the very top of your walls, but once it's done you can just go to town painting. Use the brush (1 1/2 inch angled - middle of the line priced, not the top shelf and not the bottom shelf)
Paint tray/liner
Extendable roller handle/roller
Behr Ceiling Paint
Step Ladder
Blue painters tape
1 1/2 inch angled brush to do the edges of the ceiling
And you should have a nice looking ceiling when you take the tape down the day after you paint. You don't want to rush that either, or the paint will tear away.

In addition to the help given above, try some of the ceiling paint that goes on colored (pink) and dries white. That way, you know where you've painted and where you still need to paint. Also have someone lined up to give you a good neck and shoulder rub when you're all done!

Get your paint, paint roller, paint pan, a cloth to cover the floor and edging tape. Cover your floor, place the tape around the room at ceiling/walll level. Then paint the ceiling!

You would use a roller with a handle that will accommodate a long broomstick so you won't have to get on a ladder to paint. Just wear safety goggles and a head cover because paint will drip. Paint the same way you would a wall.
