THIS IS A WHAT IF, DON'T FORGET THAT IN YOUR ANSWER.
When hell is mentioned in scripture (and it isn't mentioned that many times, and only in the New Testament) it is referring to a place believers will find themselves in if they do certain things. Jesus, first and foremost, preached to believers and their actions. If our actions are contrary to the way God intended us to live, what if those actions are bringing hell here, now? Your thoughts?

We could stop bringing hell here.

Everyone is trying to imply that I haven't done my reading, but I think you're 1. giving in to a pre-conceived idea about hell and 2. ignoring my "what if" statement.
You may need to re-visit the scriptures.

To me being in everlasting torment will be hell, but it means to be out of contact with GOD and all that is Holy for ever more. So yes I think in a lot of ways we do bring Hell here to earth, it is all around us,, in horrible demon filled people, and yes there are people born on this earth JUST for the soul purpose of torturing us, doing all they can to harm us, trying to get us down to their level, completely as far away from GOD AS POSSIBLE, AND IN MY book that is pure HELL. So I believe you are right about this. If there is NO goodness on the earth at all would that not be living in HELL to you? After CHRIST COMES AND TAKES ALL HIS OWN FROM HERE, JUST IMAGINE THE HORRORS on this planet, and there will be no one, or nothing to stop any of them... IT will be HELL as far as we Christians would think hell would be ..NO MORE HOPE AT ALL....FOR ALL ETERNITY... HELL ON EARTH..but after(THIS)THEN the sea, and hell will give up the dead in them, and they will be judged and then they will be CAST DOWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE ,, WHERE THE WORM NEVER DIES, FOR ALL ETERNITY......

Actually you might find it interesting to know that Hell is mentioned quite often in the New Testament and in fact Christ talked about Hell more often than Heaven! That sounds strange but check it out for yourself - it's true. It was hard for me to believe at first also - until I looked into it for myself. Christ obviously didn't want us to go there. Also, Christ always referred to it as a place we could end up as a result of our actions after the judgment day so that kind of leaves out the possibility of "Hell on Earth" although I'm sure many people feel like they are experiencing "Hell on Earth" right now. Neat question but it's not what Christ had in mind I'm pretty sure.

I think heaven and hell are metaphors for the human psyche. They speak to the dichotomy of human thought and feeling. Depending on the course of action chosen, either heaven or hell can result.
I am a firm believer in the idea that we create our own reality. Consequently, if you believe in the biblical myth that heaven and hell are real places and you will end up in one or the other post Judgment Day, then that will be the result. On the other hand, if, like me, you've come to understand that everything is an expression of energy in one form or another, how you influence that energy through thought and action will influence creation. The "thing" that will be manifest in the physical.
I labor for beauty. What do you create?

I don't believe that the men who wrote these things intended that to be the lesson. If they had known that this was hell, then they were intentionally lying to us about the hell of the bible and made it worse so that you would not want to be there. Think about it, they told us a great fearful situation where your earthly body would burn for all eternity or....... door number 2 where you will be happy and need nothing for all eternity. Big contrast, who knows what truth is there because you only find out after you are gone, and no one is coming back to let us know the answer.

Mamma 23 - What about the Nazi death camps? I think we get a taste of Hell here in this lifetime as an incentive to try not to go there. Personally I think the ideas put forth in the movie "What Dreams May Come" are worth considering.

I think you've got a point. We indeed can make a "hell on earth" for ourselves by foolish actions. The consequences of bad choices can haunt us for the rest of our lives. So, if that is the point you're making, I agree absolutely.
However, the hell the bible refers to, and Jesus spoke of often, is eternal torment. It is my opinion that whatever suffering we have on this earth will be nothing compared to the eternal suffering of hell. To all with ears to hear; please consider carefully who you say Jesus is.

that would be wonderful....to have that already out of the way and not have to have that option as a place one may end up would be great.....but I'm afraid it is just a dream and reality is we aren't in the real thing here and it is an option for all of us if we don't know God........but like you said we can stop bringing it here and now if we watch our actions to others around us ....that is something we can control

Spirit is MIND. We create our own reality. Just as we help our
Creator to maintain this existence. Many have indeed created
a hell on earth for themselves.

What if Superman is God?
It's a fiction, a myth, just pretend. Anything you make up about it is just as valid as the next because it is equally untrue.
If I answered, "If the Hell of the Bible is our time on Earth, then pigs could fly." That would be just as valid an answer as any of the others.
Instead of trying to relate one myth to another myth, just live your life well. Just enjoy the fact that you are able to experience life and don't worry about whether you're some pawn in some invisible sky being's grand plan.
