Punishment varies from state to state. Look it up on the web according to your state. Hopefully, it is a harsh state like New York....There is NO EXCUSE for animal cruelty at all, let alone a 3RD offense!!

I think it varies from state to state but for third offense it could be jail time if the judge is not a weenie and gives another slap on the wrist as he or she has obviously done the first two times.

If your crime has been on the evening newscast they tend to take that sentence guideline for harming a child and double it for harming an animal.
