I leave for basic training on July 10th and I really want to hurry up and get to basic so that I can get past it, I have been exercising every day and eating healthy I know I can pass basic but the waiting is the only thing that is making me nervous. How do I fix that or how do I make time seem to go by faster?

Don't sweat it....Which Fort are you being sent to, anyhow?...You've taken good care fo yourself, so your in shape, and it shouldn't be too much of a problem...Don't take any yelling personally, they yell at everyone....And here's a tip, when they put you in the chamber to test your reactions to tear gas, breath it in a little bit at a time, it shouldn't bother you that much, and Use some nasal spray before you go in....Always be ready for Reveille, get your sleep, you'll need it...Have fun, make friends...Be a leader, in fact. Folks look up to leaders. Rifle training aint tough, anyone can become a good marksman. The M-16- A2 aint hard to use, neither is the grenadiers 40mm attachment. If you have to hit a distant target, always remember to elevate accordingly. After three shots, you should be able to get the feel of where it's going to land. If you use the SAW - "Squad Automatic Weapon", always remember, short bursts of fire....The M92 Beretta is a 9mm, and Has very little recoil, excellent feeding into the chamber ramp, that's why they chose it, also because there's plenty of 9mm ammo lying around enemy fortified areas, easier to find than 45 ACP....The Buck M9 bayonet is the sweetest knife you'll ever use.....Also, with the rifle courses, Take your time, aim, take a deep breath, let out half of the breath, and then slowly release the rest of that breath while squeezing the trigger with the tip of your index finger, never jerk the trigger....Fairly easy to take apart, consists of the upper, and the lower, you'll understand that when you get there, and how to take it apart, and clean it....Hope this has helped you.....OORAH...SOLDIER..!!....Semper Fi...And carry on...!!.........You're fighting the good fight.

Drop me a line some time, let me know how you're doing if you facility has internet capabilities...I'm Zach....matsukaze_25@yahoo.com.

Good luck, little lady.

Keep up the physical training. You must make it a goal to be in better shape than anyone before you go to basic training. Although you ship on July next year, you have to remember that if you are at the top of your game, basic training will be a breeze and will go by faster. But don't forget to enjoy your time pre-boot camp. You won't have as much free time afterwards.

Good luck.

Congatulations on your enlistment!! It seems you are doing what you need to do physically to pass and I sincerely hope you have included running for time limits. It's as important as the required push ups and sit ups! It's natural to be nervous because you are not sure what to expect although you have a general idea. It's going to be okay believe me! Occupying your time depends on what your hobbies are. Are you still in school? If you have graduated you may want to try and get a job or do volunteer work. I personally wish you the best of luck and hope you make it a career! HOOHAA!!!

you dont leave for BCT until next July? did you sign up for some weird MOS that only has very few AIT dates a year or something? call your recuiter up and ask if you can get a change of date or something, if you really do want to leave early and don't really care about what site you go for BCT than you can tell your recuiter that you want to just go now or as soon as a AIT spot opens up on ATTRS (army's training roster website that you sign up for classes)

personally july sucks to going through basic cuz its going to be hot as HELL unless you are from the deep south even than no A/C, wearing body armor all day

basic is easy nowadays, me and my friends are talking about how kids got it easy now, the only time when we werent scared shitless was sunday mornings when most ppl went to church, and even than we were hiding out in the bathroom, or other places lest we wanted to go on some detail

July of 2007? Wow. That is a long wait. Just keep the faith and you'll breeze through boot camp with the right attitude. Thanks for your sacrifice, by the way, so these other wimps can whine and ***** and berate you from their life in the lap of luxury that you provide for them.

I would spend time with my family and friends, because during basic there won't be time until it is over.
