ouchh! it does hurt!! 48 Hours. Gargle frequently with salty lukewarm water as it really helps get rid of the infection and promotes healing. As somebody previously mentioned it is really important to keep the area clean, although it will hurt it should help to heal this up even quicker. it sounds like you have a problem called pericorrinitus, it is caused a flap of skin around where the wisdom tooth is erupting, it gathers up all the nasty bacterias under the flap leading to in-fection. If the problems persists you will need to return to your dentists.

Hi normally antibiotics work between 12-24 hrs then you will start to feel better, you need to wait until the antibiotic has reached the blood stream, also you mentioned about pain in the neck this sounds as thou the infection had travelled down to your neck but dont worry as the course off antibiotics will treat this too.Obviously if no better go bck to your gp,but you are on very strong high dosage pills so it should get rid off it.Good Luck

Like any antibiotic, it will take a couple of days to get into the system and start working. But you could also help it along by cleaning around the infected area, but dont go overboard

Antibiotics usually start working within a couple of days. Make sure you take the full course though or else it won't completely clear the infection.
Hope you feel better soon.

It should be working within 24 hours - 48 at the most. Make sure you take all the pills you have been given. SOme people stop when the symptoms go away and the bacteria are stillin the system - they are evolving into very strong bacteria that are immune to the antibiotic.

amoxicillin 500 is quite a big hit for a gum infection my friend and the infection will reduce after 2 days, however you must finish the course to mprevent any return of the infection, I assume your doc gave you 28 tabs ie a seven day course,
you must take them with food for best effect and i repeat even if you start to feel better you must finish them all or run the risk of the infection comming back.
cheers

Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum anti-biotic often often prescribed in what is called the shotgun approach. Prescribed in moderately high doses for short periods of time, such as in your case, caffiene will have little effect. However, be sure to take your doses regularly to keep a constant dosage in your body.

It will take about 2 days for you to start feeling relief, but be sure to take ALL the medication, otherwise the infection won't be all gone and you will probably end up in the same predicament. Good luck & hope you feel better!

antibiotics take 48 hours to start working, the pain should start easing at this time, they also carry on working for 48 hours after you have finished the course, if you still have pain after this goback to the dentist or dr, you can take pain killers with antibiotics.
