Frontline or Advantage.
Don't buy anything from the drug store like flea collars or anything from Hartz. It's bad for your animal. Go to your vet and pay the extra money for something that actually works and won't harm your animal.

If the fleas are mild and not too bad you can buy chemicals at the pet store. Buy a liquid flea killer and spread it around the dog's face with cotton balls. After that, give the dog a good flea bath. Then, get some sort of yard treatment at Lowe's or Home Depot (it used to be diazinon but I think it's no longer on the market). You can usually use a spreader to cover the yard. Finally, they have carpet treatments that will kill any flea eggs in your carpet.
Just be sure to do all of these treatments simultaneously and aggressively. You may also consider getting your dog dipped at a vet's office. Just remember to still treat your yard and house to ensure that no fleas are present.

Use frontline I got some for my dogs and it comes in a three pack for three months for 26 bucks pretty cheap really . I put some on my cat the other day and within 24 hrs was picking dead fleas off her I will not give my cat a bath lol.
Like others said dont use the cheap brands at walmart been there done that and its a total waste of money and flea collars are worthless and a waste of money .

I use an otc topical called Bio Spot and have for over 10 yrs. I've used it on my 3 dogs and on all the rescues that I have had. It works!
Don't use the Hartz products. A lot of dogs have had bad reactions to it.

The vet can give you a solution or shampoo to wash your dog with. He can even give you pills for your dog or give him a shot to kill the fleas. Good luck.
