Your husband is correct, if your speaking of melons! Casaba!
However Spelled with a 'V' is a root! They are wonderful melons with a mild yellow skin and a light green/yellow flesh. Enjoyed with a glass of champagne and strawberries or Croissants smothered in fresh Lemon Curd. Yum!

CASSAVA.
Some Latin Americans may pronounce the v as a b, that is just their accent.
I don't know anything about it being a melon, though.
Cassava is more of a root food, for example - yuca.
MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm,
Well, what do you know?
I just read some other answers and I guess there is such a thing as cassaba melon.
As for my accent comment, it still stands.
My friends all say telebision instead of television.
Am I forgiven?
