He's been to two vets. They did a urine and blood test, no bacteria, no infection, no diabetes. The ultrasound showed no abnormalities with the kidneys or bladder. They examined his prostate but he's fixed so there's not really a prostate there. He's eating, playful, maybe a little tired but overall healthy.

We've had x-rays as well and they haven't shown anything.

It sounds like the vet you took him to is incompetent. Take him to another one for a second opinion. I think your dog should get bloodwork and a urinalysis.

Take him back. Tell the doctor the meds didn't help. The doctor can reevaluate and figure it out. If you have a good trusted vet, he/she can help. It may take time. They thought they figured it out, but they didn't. Now they know what won't work. If you decide to go to another vet, go to your original vets office and get a copy of your dogs records so your new vet knows what been tested and whats been done. It'll save you money.

Our dog had lupus. She had a high fever and didn't eat. The vets couldn't figure out what it was. They tested and tried everything and eventually figured it out. She did great for a long time. She was in remission for 6 years before it came back and hit her hard. She died within a week of showing symptoms.

There are several reasons that your dog might have blood in their urine. Below are some of the most common reasons given by various veterinarians:

Your dog might have a urinary tract infection
Your dog might have an infected prostate;
Your dog might have a uterine infection;
Your dog might have stones;
Your dog might have been poisoned;
Your dog might have been bitten by a tick; or
Your dog might have been in a serious accident causing internal injuries.

Take him to another vet for a second opinion. My only advice. 10 days is a long time to pee blood.

the justifications for this selection from very severe to something which would be dealt with in some short days. probability is your dogs won't die over evening yet shop a special eye on him while you're very in touch & if he seems to be getting lots worse I strongly propose taking him to an emergency Vet.

Interesting question..... I am sure your vet did toxicology on your pooch. and nothing showed up? I have only one idea, Lead Poisoning. If your dog was anywhere he could have started eating old paint. I had this problem with one of my dogs. Apparently they can become addicted to them just like a drug. My dog did exhibit some of the symptoms you described.

........Good Luck............

You went to two vets.
Do you think the people here are better qualified to offer expert medical advice about a very specific problem related to your dog?
Come on now ...

My puppy did that and it took an x-ray to find out it was a UTI.
