Currently, the Euro is very strong against the dollar. Furthermore, it's cheaper to ship stuff Japan-US as opposed to Japan-EU. You could have it shipped from a US retailer, but the warranty may not transfer over. Use your discretion.

it's because the production unit is only here in the US and there are no factory units of that company in europe. so free trade als does not prevail and the european traders take large amount of money from european customers and so a 500$ thing in US costs 1K$ in the europe.

Different Broadcast standard (PAL in Europe, NTSC Here in USA) and its not Fair Traded i.e.
The retailers here are subsidized and aren't in Great Britain

You can get one delivered but it won't work with your TV or VCR
