Most homeless dogs are happy and balanced. the homeless lifestyle is much more like a dog would live as opposed to a house pet. Unless their is intentional cruelty, let them be. The dog may be the homeless dudes only real friend.

The Humane Society would probably take the dog away from him.

Even though it may seem like the right thing to do, think a little about the situation first.

Does the dog look neglected or does he look happy? The dog and the homeless guy might be all each other has and separating them might be worse for both of them. The dog may go to a shelter and be unadoptable and put to sleep. Would the dog really better off then?

In my experience people like that sometimes take better care of their animals than people that aren't homeless!!

Maybe he just has his sign say that to tug at people's heartstrings so that they give him money. You have to decide if the animal is neglected. If so, I would call, but if not, I might just let them live their lives...together.

I always feel extra bad for homeless dogs. I want to give the homeless guy with the dog more money than the homeless guy without a dog. (Which is probably exactly what they want). It must bring the homeless a lot of company like my dog does to me. I noticed when I went to England that there were a lot of signs saying do not give money to the homeless as it only encourages them to stay on the streets, even those with dogs. But I guess if you got him dog food, it would solve the problem of the hungry dog and you wouldn't be giving money to the homeless to buy things for himself (or herself).

I think alot of the homeless guys keep dogs for the sympathy vote most people don't mind the homeless guy starving but not the dog so garunteed food even if it is only pedigree chum!!, company, protection etc
i don't think it is necessarily a bad thing as a lot of them do care for the dogs and i think at least the dogs are out and about all day and not locked up in a house they enjoy being with their owners all of the time.

If you are so "worried" about the dog, why not use some of your energy spent posting about the dog, and go buy a bag of dog food, some food for the poor guy, and maybe a blanket or anything else you can spare. You don't know the circumstances behind this. That dog may be the last thing he has in life to give him a sense of being willing to go on in what is a horrible life.

I would bet that the dog is a stray that that man is trying to help. It is what is problem keeping both of the going. The dogs has love and so does that person....in stead of trying to take that away why dont' you help out and get the man some dog food....I would bet that the dog is happier now that he was before that person found him....love is a good things....try and help both...don't try and make that mans life worse by taking away the one things he has to live for...and I am sure the dog is eating...they usually find what they need...I have seen some strays that look better that some I have seen come from homes...

They would take his dog if it wasn't being cared for. Which it most likely isn't.

Why not let the guy have something? I'm sure the dog is his only friend. Probably uses it for protection too. Just leave it alone. If you feel that bad, give the guy some dog food and maybe you could find it in your heart to actually care enough about the human being who's also homeless and throw a sandwich in his direction.

My advice, leave him alone with his only source of unconditional love.

I gave a homeless person who had a dog a hamburger that I got a 2 for 1 deal on. I just told him that I insisted that he give his dog half... which he did. I don't give homeless people money. But given the choice of throwing it away or feeding a man and his dog, I choose the latter.

Why don't you buy the dog some food? And pay for his shots? Wouldn't that be the nice thing to do? I mean, you are all for everyone paying for illegal aliens and anchor babies, and telling us it's the humane thing to do ... I'm sure out of the kindness of your heart you could spend a few bucks on a hungry dog ... yeah?

More than likely the dog is in far better condition than the individual is. It has been my experience that if indigent people got the same level of care as they give their pets , they would be the envy of the world.
