“I have come to the conclusion that whether or not a person is a religious believer does not matter. Far more important is that they be a good human being”

Your statement that "..... religion does anything but seperate ppl" is demonstrated to be correct by the current state of world affairs.
Religions teach "dogma". The "dogma" defines, God, faith, love, morals, right, wrong, etc. in accordance with the objectives of the institution doing the teaching and the extent of its relationship with the doctrines and policies of the political government. Unfortunately for the world today, the religions of the currently most powerful countries teach a dogma of seperation......man from a direct connection to the center(salvation only through the church), man from man(the chosen few) and man from the environment(subdue the earth).
Most of the teachers of true spirituality were exterminated or forced underground by the inquisitions and territorial conquests carried out by the "religious" forces of the "seperation dogma" institutions.
"Divide and Conquer".

All religions, by their very existence, are "exclusive." Either you believe as they believe otherwise you will not be invited to become a member of their club. Worse, you can be labeled an "infidel," or a "heathen." So. The very thing that is supposed to bring people together, or a better way of describing it would be the thing that is "marketed" as bringing people together, is in fact something that divides.
Finding an "inclusive" religion is extremely difficult. As difficult as being able to find a political candidate that everyone can agree on as being the best representative for the people. Impossible.

Yes your right. Any code of ethics that is too strict or intolerant of other peoples views will only separate people. Do as i say and do it now or else! This is the main down fall in any society. People don't want to be told how to think, act, and feel. Its just human nature to act out against such things. I believe in God in my own way and i don't go to church because i don't want someone telling me i cant do this or that if i think its morally right. I follow the commandments and do right by my fellow man. Everyone has a choice, be informed and make the right one but don't ever let anyone tell you how to think!

Christ taught only one way. God shows us in the Bible that there is only one way. Yet, even in Jesus' day, that way was spoken against. Satan has had many years now to organize religions which DO NOT adhere to the way Jesus taught and God showed. Unfortunately, Satan is also still here promoting those false teachings. Surely God would not approve of those in the true faith to compromise and accept half truths or outright lies. So, therein lies the problem. If your faith agrees with many others in it's teachings or if it seems to compromise in any way with falsehood, get out of it quickly before God destroys it. It is out of love that I tell you this--not to cause separation.

It seperates people when we do not allow other views. If we get so hung up on our own and think the others are not worthy of looking at.
If we followed Biblical religion... this would not be a problem... if anything we would be fighting to see who could help the others the most.
James 1: 26. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Of course we know thats not true, but for some reason they do choose to forfeit the use of the greatest gift the Deity gave us- our Reason.

You've obviously never met my church community. I've never been closer anyone, and it's God that's brought us together. There are churches that don't fit all people, but when you find the right fit, your life will explode in many different ways.

Religion has both positive and negative aspects. At its worst, religion inspires divisiveness, hatred, spite, and violence. It makes one group feel superior to all others. At its best, religion inspires courage, generosity, and a love for all humankind.
