Saturday I was this concert in Charlotte and everythign was peaceful. My bf and I left about 15 minutes early before all the trouble started. After we left, cops showed up, saying the bands were violating the law - thtey had a legal permit - but the cops arrested them anyway using brutal force, pointing guns at their heads and using tasers. All this is on film. Cops say they were resisting arrest. And yeah they probably were because they did nothing wrong. They had a right be there and it was all legal. Still, they got arrested anyways.
I'm pissed that left early. I should've got arrested too for the cause. Then again, I don't want anything to stain my record.
Still, the cops were in wrong and a lawsiut is being taken out. One band member was even put in the hospital.

What do you think of all this?
Your cop stories?

I agree thath there are soem good cops.
More on their side of the story? Okay, they were recieving complaints from near by hotels that the music was too loud so the cops came to stop the noise. But the thing is, the city gave them a permit to play any kind of music they wanted and how loud they wanted it. If they city thought it would be a hassle, they should've never given them a permit. I think the city officals should have been arrested for allowing it in the first place if they knew it would cause problems.
The cops arrived right when the show ended. Only like 10 minutes to go and they were already packing up and agreeing to leave but the cops called back up anyways.
They were outnumbered for like 5 minutes until backup arrived. It was an even number. On the film footage, there were a lot of cops on one guy while the rest of crowd stood back, not fighting back. So five cops on one guy. Its not right.
It's all on ch 9 news. It's bias; everything that defies the norm is.

I validate your feelings completely, I know you feel slighted and that you and your people were wronged, but like you said, you left early.....before it all started......so maybe there is more to the story than you know. If the cops are in the wrong then they will be outed, but they have a responsibility to the community at large. Let the courts settle this........and remember to all of those who pay their taxes.....their paycheck looks just like the rest of ours. (they pay taxes too)

P.S. Don't hate the avatar........I know that their are badge heavy cops out there, not all of them are saints, but not all of them are badge heavy jerks either, one day you may find yourself in need of one and be thankful that one is there to help.

See if you can get a copy of the police report of the event. It should be public record. I think you can request a copy from the station that made the arrests. It would be interesting to see what cause they had for being so forceful and what laws the bands were actually violating. It could have been calls from people complaining about noise level??
I've never had that bad of a run in with the cops in my town. They do get very serious with drinkers and drivers though.

What people seem to forget is that cops are normal people, just with authority to rule over using the excuse of "protecting"
like evrything. we have the good guys and the bad guys.

One thing that I have noticed is the younger cops are usually the more disruptive ones, the ones that try to piss off civilians and then when they fight back they use "controled force" its all bull **** sorry to say, their egos are too big to "do the right thing"
they know once in court they will always come out wining.

I was out with some friends when a parade of cars where passing by a main street celebrating the Miami Heat winning Championships,
Some friends along with my husband and I, we were eating in the parking lot of Mc Donalds sitting out side by the car when this (young)cop comes and starts yelling telling every one to leave now! he starts cursing and pushes a garbage can next to us! and so we were all shocked with our cheeseburgers in our hands... No one moved for like a 2 seconds from the shock, we were trying to figure out in our heads why he was yelling and pushing things around.
while we all are getting together our stuff (cop yelling to move faster) my friend goes to throw his trash in the garbage the cop grabs him by his shirt and pushes him in our car like if he were a 15 year old punk! Then to top it off the cop says if we would have payed attention to him he wouldnt have needed to use force. thats b.s. we never talked back we never tryed to start problem we werent disrupting any one and we were not part of the celebration all we were doing was simply eating outside of Mc Donalds! we are all over 21 so he shouldnt be trying to inforce any curfew by force its wrong.

I am white, and live in the inner city. At leat once a week, I get pulled out of my car at a stop sign and searched for drugs by a cop because I "don't look like I belong there". All this at the corner of MY street. I thought they were there to protect me, not harass me when I'm on my way to work; repeatedly.

I am sorry to hear of your story, and think that it's great that you will make them responsible for their actions via lawsuit; they really do just take it further then they have to, don't they?

I respect the uniform and I have a great reverence for the man who answers a call to duty when he feels he can benefit his community and fellow humans. My beef is with those few police who become police just to bully others about. Thank goodness they are in the minority but there are those who put on the uniform and the guns just to able to feel stronger than everyone else. They are the weak ones and should be shown up.

it's called a power trip...many cops go through them. unfortunately they are people too and go through emotions just like you and me, so there is not much you can do to stop something like this. you just have to realize what is going on and make the best of the situation...you can always sue them for wrongful arrest if you are right.

The chief in our area is not smart enough.
They are listening to the undercoer police officers all the time no matter what the real situation is.
From 1995 to now.

I called the police cause he was out of control and they came in and stomped all over our christmas presents and maced me and my daugther. I had to pay five hundred dollars to get out of jail cause even the judge was corrupt

I think we need both sides of the story. I tend to be more of a fan of the police than a lot of the weird bands, but like I say, let's hear both sides.

There are good and bad cops out there. They probably needed to use force because they were highly out numbered. Put yourself in their shoes and try to see it from their perspective.
As it being all legal, I don't know. You probably don't know 100% either. Can't believe everything you hear.
