does your credit score follow you if you become a citizen of another country? is credit linked to you through a SS#?

No, I'm pretty sure it doesn't follow you in the sense that you can't be taken to the native country's court system to be made responsible for debts owed in another country. Social Security numbers are only US based, each country has their own way of identifying a person. Your credit record in South Africa would not include anything from the US.

Establishing credit in a new country can be difficult because the credit score system may not apply. I went through that in Europe. Usually your employer can help you with the transition.

Oh, yeah... it doesn't matter where you go, your social security number is what follows you. You can change your name to IMA FIBBIN but your credit report follows your social.

THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION, BUT I THINK IT FOLLOWS YOU WHERE EVER YOU MOVE, LIKE A FLEA ON A DOG.
