Islam is a word of semitic origins (s-l-m). It means to submit. In the Islamic context it is submission to God. The only God, the God of Abraham. Semitic words are generaly of a three constanant root. Salam is another derivative of the root which has many meanings including peace and as a welcoming phrase. Shlama, Shalom, are the Aramaic and Hebrew translations both of the same meaning.

Or is it just the extreemists that think that, it is sometimes so hard to tell!
