Check with your doctor NOW. You could have sleep apnea, which is very dangerous, but then that wouldn't bother you when you're awake. It also could be asthma [do you smoke?] and it could be a bad case of nerves. That's why you need to see a doctor. I've had that frantic gasping for breath sometimes when I wake up, but my doctor tells me it's stress as it only happens periodically. Still scary though.

Its possible that its asthma, maybe you are getting bronchitis? I'm not sure, possibly an allergy of some sort. Check with a doctor he/she should be able to offer a much better diagnosis

I would make an appointment to see your doctor. Breathing is nothing to mess around with. You could have asthma, slpeep apnea, panic or anxiety discorder COPD or allergies, because there is such a varitey of options you need to see your doctor.

It could be asthma, it could be panic disorder, it could be chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, it could be allergy.....the only way to be sure is to see a doctor and have him/her help you figure it out.
