Let him "chew" on your finger. That's what mine did. Those ice things that you freeze and then let them chew on works sometimes. It helps numb the pain, or use some numbing cream.

Our daughter was having a hard teething when she started getting her back teeth she was getting two and three at the same time I finally broke down and took her to the emergency they gave me all the usual suggestions like your getting know I told the doctor that none of that was keeping her from crying and hurting she wasnt even sleeping they prescribed liquid loratab they did let me know all the side effects and not to use it unless u knew she was in really bab pain I was reluctant at first but once we gave it to her and it kicked it she was back to my happy baby I did only use it until I knew there was not more pain the bumps on the tongue could be thrush or irritation from chewing on his tongue to soothe the pain of his teeth.

My daughter just got her last three big back teeth at the same time, i was very lucky and she didn't complain too much...apart from asking for a lot of ice creams and ice pops! these really help as they numb it, i found calypso do some great flavoured water ice pops that have no colourings in them, so no stained clothes!

Also try more traditional medicinal remedies such as Anbesol, Bonjela and calpol or another infant paracetamol based product, they are for pain after all.

crunched up ice cubes are good too actually!

Good luck and you have my sympathy!

Rub a little JD on his back gums! Also try a wet frozen wash cloth for him to chew on. Dip the end of the wash cloth in some water and freeze it! Don't get the whole thing wet so it won't be so cold on his little hands! Let him chew on it to help sooth the gums!! Give him some Children's Motrin for the pain and he will be fine!

He could be rubbing his tongue up and down his new teeth ? this could cause the bumps and the pain. Have you tried teething gel ? or a teether toy that you cool in the fridge ?

When my youngest daughter was teething we used very dry beef jerky and large pieces(not wanting her to choke). It lasts a good long time and the gnawing helped ease her discomfort. I know there are a lot of people out there which will think this strange but it worked like a charm.

Good Luck

Rather than use any medicinal approach I suggest you purchase a couple of teething rings which can be chilled/frozen; probably from Boots. They find them very soothing and will chew on them for ages; one can be chilling whilst the other is being used. The tongue aspect may just be his attempt to resolve the problem; but if it persists after you have tried some of the suggested approaches then please see your doctor.

Stay away from remedies such as beef jerky!! (Obvious choking hazard)

Good luck.

Tylenol was my best friend at that stage... I should have been given shares in the company! Something safe to chew on helps also (they need to chew even if not in pain). My daughter had a 'teething buddy' rabbit that we never left home without!

first you should get some baby ambesol and infant Tylenol. give him some Tylenol(follow dosing instructions for his age/weight) then rub some anbesol on his gums. do this after he eats or drinks due to the fact that it will wash away the medicine. this will help.also try wetting a face cloth and let him chew on it (white one ) whats happening is the tooth needs to break through the gum and that is the most painful so if he chews on the wet rag it will help this process.
