God is Love! The suffering we have makes us stronger in our conviction to God's word, the sacrifices we make should be in the name of God, the peace we find is within Jesus and his sacrifice for us knowing that ours sins are washed away and the joy we feel is the love we give back to God.

Through a relationship with God, and acceptance of His son Jesus a your savior, you can acquire, peace, joy, and when you endure the suffering and pain, Jesus is taking the bulk of it for you, and you are not going through it alone.
God is loving, caring, and merciful. But for those who take His great qualities forgranted, God is also a disiplinarian as well. For all the incredible things He has done for us, which none of us are worthy of, He deserves respect and our obedience to Him.
