Tell him the truth but diplomatically. After all, its really nice to know you have pple who like, appreciate and even love you.
Just try and show some respect in return even when you cannot return the love cos you never know when you'll need it.
Always be sincere to pple and yourself; that way,you'll have less problems in your relationships.

Give him the "It's not you, it's me" dialogue. Don't be rude because he was sweet enough to make a fool of himself. Just say you are not ready for anything but friendship.

If you are REALLY not into him, say "you don't really love me. There is no way you could." And then make some shi_t up like "you don't know me well enough to love me."

Tell him you consider this a compliment, thanks, but unfortunately you don't feel the same way. DON"T give him false hope by saying something like, "but I'd like us to be friends." That rarely works out.
