Yeah, they didn't prescribe celibacy for everyone. Actually, Paul said that those whose sex drives interfered with their piety or faithfulness should get married and do it the right way. That way they could stay holy and also have intercourse (with someone they love, which is much better anyway. Try it.)
The only way the whole human race would go extinct is if everyone on earth was celibate. Trust me, that's not going to happen. We rut like horny monkeys already...spawning kids when we can't even properly feed them and even when we are too immature to raise them.
A little celibacy could save our race, actually. Because parenthood is outpacing parenting.

St. Paul thought the world was going to end and didn't see the point in his new converts of getting married. Jesus is married to His Church, this is the model for all human marriages and families.

Corruption would be even greater than it has been if the priesthood was inherited! It HAS to be a choice. And they don't want the human race to go extinct. Quite the opposite. They don't want STD's to destroy human reproductive capabilities before people have a chance to get married.

Both Jesus and Paul expected that Jesus's second coming and the End of the World would happen in the lifetimes of most of the people alive at the time, so the future of the human race didn't enter into their thinking.

No. Celibacy is for the clergy only. Jesus said that man cannot serve mammon and God. It is not possible for a man to serve God and his wife. A cleric is expected to focus his full attention on the matters of God. Matters of family will interfere with this. It is rare that you find a husband and wife team in the ministry that work well together. Many pastors end up divorced because the wife refuses to set the world aside for her husband. Many ministries end up in ruins over the same.

Each person has their own purpose in God's plan. If their purpose was to glorify God and celibacy was part of that plan then that is what God intended for Paul... but that does not mean that all people are to lead that lifestyle.
Listen to what God is telling you. Have a great week!

Wow,
Go to Catholic.com and do some research.
Priests do not share a blood line like royalty.
Priests come from the Catholic People.
Peace!

no;;; they both just turned their whole life to serving God, and doing all of Gods will, not the will of their own flesh bodies, They kept their bodies in check, so they would be solely doing work for God at all times.Paul said it would be better if all of us were like him, so we would not be worrying about the family so much, and could devote all our time in doing the work the Lord has for us to do in our lives.

That would be the natural consequence of adopting celibacy. except that the practice is SOOO unatural that those who try to practice it bring their Churches into disrupute. attacking altar boys nuns and monks going mad....
doesnt bear thinking about.
(I think it was Paul who prefereed celibacy)
