Has anyone used Advocate by bayer in the treatment for Demodex mange? Its used the same as Advantage and it`s for fleas, ticks, ear mites, different manges. I came across this on the web and have called many vets in my area and none of them are carrying it. I would love to know if anyone has used this for mange and did it cure it. My vet said he would check on it this week to see if he could get it. Thanks

My Vet.. called me back and said that Advocate is only avaliable in Canada. Guess I will never know if it will work for curing my dogs Demodex

I don't know of any vets in my area that are using Advocate presently. I have heard about it, but I am personally unfamiliar with it. Since it's relatively new, maybe a lot of vets are taking a 'wait and see' approach to be sure of the drugs safety. No vet wants to be responsible for causing harm to a client's pet.
I've read about Advocate and it looks to be a cure all, for not only ectoparasites, but also endoparasites. It would be a wonderful if this medicine does as Bayer says and does it safely.
If any of the vets here know about this drug, I would be interested on their information.
Here is some more information about it;
THE FAST FLEA CONTROL AND PREVENTION. Imidacloprid spreads rapidly over the animal, killing 98-100% of adult fleas within 12 hours of application. In addition, Imidacloprid controls flea larvae in the pet’s environment and reduces the incidence of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD).
HEARTWORM PREVENTION. After topical application, Moxidectin is distributed systemically and with monthly use will prevent heartworm infection in both dogs and cats.
TREATMENT, PROTECTION AND PREVENTION OF GASTROINTESTINAL WORMS. Advocate's unsurpassed efficacy against adult, immature and L4 larval stages assures protection against environmental contamination and prevents reinfestation of the pet.
TREATMENT AND CONTROL OF GENERALISED DEMODICOSIS. Monthly application of Advocate for 2 to 4 treatments is highly effective in the treatment of generalised demodicosis in dogs.
CONTROL OF SARCOPTIC MANGE MITE. Advocate has been shown to eliminate 100% of sarcoptic mites after a single dose.
CONTROL OF EAR MITES. For the treatment of ear mites, Advocate is highly effective as a single dose.
CONTROL OF LICE. Applied monthly, Advocate will control lice.

I have never heard of it but if it works for Demodex that would be wonderful. Demodex is such a hard thing to get claered up.
