Well, if its a factory stereo, there should be two holes on either side of the radio, on, many fords, there was a a prong set that you need to buy in order to get the stereo out. You would slide the two prong set into both sides of the radio and get you hooks in (so to speak) and the stereo should pull right out. The wiring is pretty simple but if you get hung up, go to Crutchfield.com and they should be able to give you wiring instructions. I used to own a contour so I am pretty familiar with that car.

get a wiring kit, they make them for almost every brand of car. This will make it easy and there's no need to cut up the factory wiring. Another choice is to get a service manual. You may get better answers if you explain the exact problem. Do you not know what wire goes where? You can also take your car to a local car stereo installer for help.

they sell wire harness for most cars that you connect the stereo too, then all you have to do is connect the harness to the factory harness in the car. The aftermarket harness is labeled and tells you which wire is for what ie. white/white w/black stripe = rear right or something like that, then you just connect your radio to match these wires.

No cutting factory radio harnesses needed. Check your local car stereo shop, circuit city, best buy or crutchfield.com to get one for your car.
