There a couple of sources I would take a look at: the list of Workld Heritage Sites http://whc.unesco.org/ and the Lonely Planet travel books http://www.lonelyplanet.com/ from your local library.
As something to get you started:
The Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland,
The Plaka/Monastiriki/Acropolis area of Athens, Greece,
Camoeing in Katherine Gorge, Northern Territory, Australia,
Black Water Rafting, Waitomo, New Zealand,
Northern Lights in Iceland,
Travel from Bratislava, Slovakia to Budapest, Hungary by boat (and enjoying the cities as well),
The Himalayas and Ganges in India,
Kanya Kumari in South India on a cloudless sunrise/sunset,
The Peruvian Amazon,
Colca Canyon in Peru.
Sedona, North Arizona, US.
Niagara Falls in winter.

Well I would highly recommend the Maldives, I went there for 2 weeks and it is without a doubt paradise. Although it is full of resorts it is not what you would picture, for the two weeks we were there we often felt like we had the beach to ourselves.

Two places I would love to go that in my opinion aren't typical tourists destinations are the Azores Islands and the Republic of Palau or Belau these islands are supposed to be one the most beautiful places in the world to dive.

I don't have a list of 10 places for you, but my advice is don't pick well-known places. It's not that I'm one of those travel snobs who thinks all tourist traps are bad. I just think traveling is best when you see things that you never knew existed.

I've got to say 'come to Scotland' though ;-)

New Zealand has lots to see and do - south island is beautiful - glaciers and forest - where Lord of Rings was filmed.

Brazil - Sao Paolo has got to be seen to be believed - make NY look tiny. Young vibrant and edgy.

NY if you've not been its like nowhere else I've been.
