We have XM in our new car (it was standard and we're still in the trial phase of it). I prefer Sirius myself, however. I think Sirius has a better lineup on the dial, plus they claim to have no advertisements on the radio whereas XM always has some ad playing. Plus, it annoys me when I look to see what station it is and my radio is displaying the phone number of the advertiser.
Sirius has Howard Stern, XM has Oprah (as if she's not everywhere already). Plus, I would like an old 80's rock station. I believe Sirius has one and XM definitely does not, although they have 20 "urban" stations to choose from.
To each his own, however. Take a look at both and see which one has a lineup you prefer. I think you can also get free trials online to see which one plays music you'd prefer.

xm does have an 80's station, and only a handful on their channels have commercials. xm has a deeper playlist than sirius.
