Its a long story but I will try to keep it short. The sin of Adam was high treason. He conferred all that God had given him, dominion of the earth and everything in it to God's great enemy. He also opened the door to death and destruction, pain and suffering, and led mankind into the captivity of the devil. This he did by disobediance to God.

Now, for God to legally set things right. A perfect man like Adam had to be obediant to God. He had to be the perfect sacrifice, innocent and pure in all things. He had to be pure born, of the same blood as Adam. He had to be a man so that man's rights as conferred by God could be restored. And he had to be a man because by one man the sin and destruction entered, so only by one man could it be redeemed. What he accomplished by his being obediant even to the point of death itself, was to undo the rights the enemy of God has over man. He made it available for everyone who chooses to receive, to have true freedom, and power and all the things of God. Including healing.

But to aceive this he had to be obediant right to death itself. Overwise he could not have been raised from the dead and there would be no victory over death itself. And so that is what he accomplished. And because of that anyone who confesses with their mouth Jesus as Lord, and who truly believes in his heart that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead, is not only saved, but receives the power from God. The gift of holy spirit. And all that power represents, such as authority of God and ability to cast out devils, heal the sick, raise the dead, etc.

And thats why. Hope it was not too long winded.

why do christians claim this when Jesus himself does not claim any such thing in the bible???

Jesus says " ...for SALVATION is from the Jews"

Christians says "salvation means to believe jesus died on the cross for our sins"

Jesus was asked O Good Master! What must I do to earn eternal life?

he replied "Dont call ME good! no one is Good except One, God. But if you want to enter eternal life ...keep the commandments"

christians says....if you want to have eternal life you gotta believe jesus died on the cross for our sins..."

I think its pretty clear that you cant stake your life on a document called the New Testament which was written years after Jesus left the earth, by lots of different people. who would accept a news report written years later purporting to be written at the time of the event?

not a very accurate historical record to stake your life and belief systems on,is it?

He realized that the sacrifice of an animal wouldn't do any longer because of the animal's inability to think, feel and reason for the lives of those he was dying for, and feel love for them in return. Though animal sacrifice was made holy for that purpose, it only covered people's sin a year at a time! Therefore, there needed to be a more permanent fixture for covering the sin! Therefore, Jesus was necessary to be the "ultimate sacrifice" for all time!

It was a con to allow Jesus to leave without the Romans losing face. The execution of a popular rebel leader would have caused the Romans more trouble than Jesus was worth. They did a deal to fake his death and likely paid him off to leave town. A little bit more plausible than a man returning to life, no?

That is just one of many questions the Bible makes me wonder. There was so much suffering that God could have avoided. He was God, for God's sake. He could have stopped sin without causing suffering. Besides the John Chapter 1 states that " nothing was created without God" meaning that God created everything. That means God created disease and sin and suffering. I choose not to worship that.

Left over from the old custom of slaughtering your best calf, to ensure a good season.
Christians did the most effective political maneuver and glommed on to the already popular myth and claimed it for themselves. Who could blame them, it worked!

The bible makes no logical sense whatsoever.

If there was a God and he invented humans for companionship, there would be no need for the earth or anything else that has happened or will happen.

We would all be living together as one big happy family,

Obviously, God does not exist.

he did it out of love, that's what you can tell your 10 year old daughter. He wants us all to come back to live with heavenly father again, but the only way was for him to atone for our sin's. He sacrificed his life so that when we make a mistake we can through him repent of are sin's. It was because he had a deep love for us.

The God of the Old Testament liked sacrifices, maybe the God of the New Testament liked them too.

Never underestimate the power of persuasion.

God's law demanded that death was the penalty for sin, he couldn't ignore His own law because that would be unjust and God is unable to act against his just and loving nature.

He sent His son, Jesus, to die to pay the penalty which we could never pay ourselves. Because Jesus died while being sinless himself, death had no hold on him and he rose from the dead.

He promised that anyone who truly believed in him could be free of their debt of sin, because he took our sins onto himself when he died.
