That is the complete definition of statutory rape. Your mother is completely right.

Yes. Your parents can press charges and they should AGAINST both men for statutory rape. If you are not 18, (a legal adult), and someone has sexual contact with you they are rapists. A 24 year old man has no business with a 16 year old girl in the first place!! That should never have started. They are responsible for allowing the relationship in the first place. Some teenagers think they are adults and know what's best for them and turn on their parents when they try to tell them the right way. It's disappointing that your parents would tell you to google for an answer instead of working it out with the authorities and maybe counselors.

By law, and your young age, your parents can press charges. If you truely Love each other and I fimrly believe you may think your pregnant, then the most decent thing to do, for your parents are to let you marry him. You need to speak to your parents and lay it on the line. Tell them what you want to do. Many young girls have been married at 16. It is not good to do that, but it happens and many times it goes great. So you need to now act like an adult and talk to your parents. They are mainly concerned about your well being and also the grandchild. So grow up and tell them what your plans are. There is not much they can do now, excepts cause you to be more misserable. This 24 year old man, should have known not to rob the craddle. Good Luck

The law does not provide for you to have any say in this situation. Well, let me rephrase that, the law only provides for adults to have any say in this situation and since your aren't one of those, you have no say. An adult cannot have sexual intercourse with a non-adult. It is not up to a parent to enforce this. It is called "statutory" rape since that statute says it is illegal. When an adult male has sexual intercourse with an adult female, they both either agree it was consentual or one may say it was rape and press charges. Bottom line the ADULTS decide and can act accordingly. "Statutory" rape takes the decision away from all persons involved and deems the action a crime. So, you don't have to "press charges" and neither does your mother. All anyone has to do is report the sexual intercourse to the police and your "boyfriend" will be getting arrested when found and will be going to jail.
And, don't take this the wrong way, but in this modern 21st century world, no 16 year old can know what real love is, infatuation and/or strong emotional attachment maybe , but not love.

If you want to google it go right ahead. But normally a parent can press charges of statutory rape without your consent because you are under the age of 18. Therefore you can no more consent to sex then enter into a binding contract due to the fact you are still a minor in the eyes of the law.

Your mother doesn't need to really to press the charges. She can - as your legal guardian. Your opinion may not really have much of a bearing on the case, to be honest. If you are 16, then you are not of legal age to consent for sexual contact.
And besides, why is there a 24 year old going after a 16 year old? I don't think it's because of conversation. If he truly loved you, he would have said no, and then waited until you were 18 before pursuing a relationship with you. That is what a respectable man would have done.
He deserves whatever your mom gives him. Go MOM!!

You may have feelings for this man, but the big picture is he is a loser that is taking advantage of the innocence of a 16 year old girl. Wait until you're 18, then you can do whatever you want. Until then, your parents are responsible for you, under law. A 24 year old man having sex with a 16 year old girl is considered statutory rape in most jurisdictions (states) and is considered child molestation in some jurisdictions. Seriously, this guy is a pervert. Have you considered what would happen if you became pregnant, or contracted a sexually transmitted disease from this man? He is just using you for sex and to be able to brag to his loser friends that he is nailing a 16 year old...if I ever heard something like that, I would personally report him to the police (depending on jurisdictions). Please take some time to consider your parent's advice, though at this age you will make your own mistakes. I wish you the best, do the right thing...you'll grow up in a much better postion if you wait to have sex until you're married or at least a woman anyways.

Sorry; but the truth is that he is 24 and you're still 16, yes, your mom can press charges on your boyfriend and even though you love him and say it's consensual, it doesn't matter because of the age difference! My advice is to stay away from him until you're 18 if you truly love him, otherwise you will probably be visiting him in jail!

The answer is yes -- they can press charges against him.
Because you are under the age of 18, your 24-year-old boyfriend is committing "statutory rape" by having sex with you. It doesn't matter that you're giving him consent -- you're not old enough to legally do so.
I'd suggest Googling the name of the state where you live and "statutory rape law" to learn more.
You may not know any better but your boyfriend should.

Since you are 16 you are considered a minor and your parents still have custody of you. If they want to then yes then can have charges pressed against him for rape and he will then be a sexual predator if he is convicted.
