I have seen both the joys and the depravities of mankind within myself. If evolution were true, as I was taught in school, then it most certainly account for the evils within mankind, however, it does not account for the desire for goodness.
You see, evolution only promotes the ideas of 'survival of the fittest', and that reaches into selfishness, both of the individual and of the society. That any evil deed is not necessarily evil, but rather, is an aspect of selfishness from gaining pleasure without concern for others or society as a whole... it is the advancement of the self... natural selection, of sorts. Any good deed is also not necessarily good, but is an aspect of selfishness derived from gaining pleasure at the welfare of others, or the welfare of society.
However, it fails to account for why mankind is completely unable to achieve perfection on both the individual and societal level... not "without mistakes" (such as mistyping 2+2=5), but rather, "without evil". If we are not supernaturally prevented from being without a hint of evil, and we are indeed as evolved as scientists say we are, then it should be a simple task to never willingly never lie or slander, never steal, never lust or be unfaithful, never hate or be angry without cause or murder, never want what our neighbor has, never overwork ourselves, always honor our parents and give them their due respect, and always treat our neighbors with the same kindnesses we would want to be treated with. Yet, even if one person decides to do these things, it is not possible to do so their entire life. Why? A response of "mankind isn't perfect" doesn't cut it, because that draws from a theological argument that mankind is sinful. If there is no such thing as sin, then moral perfection should be attainable, yet it is not.
There is also the fact that evolution does not provide an acceptable answer for how we got here, either. In a single breath, an evolutionist can denounce the concept that life can spontaneously generate (the idea that maggots 'automagically' came out of rotten meat, as though the meat created the bugs), and yet promote it in the next (the idea that amino acids could self-replicate without a self-replication method, or use energy without a means to generate it, and then bacteria and amoebae came from such a process). In one week, pronounce that there are 9 planets, and in the next, pronounce that there are 8.
Science is a matter of trial-and-error. Only a handful of things of all things observed empirically are actually true. And even then, there are always new theories that question what was once thought to be law, and new hypotheses that question what is theory. Even such fundamental 'laws' are not written in stone, such as the old adage that represents Newton's law of gravity ('What goes up must come down') is no longer true, as we know how to escape the earth's gravity, and are quite capable of "never coming back down" if we sought to do so, or perhaps the sound barrier (which was broken long before most of us were born).
What finally got me to believe wholeheartedly was the matter of prophecy. Since you asked for no scripture, I will nutshell my beliefs. Archaeology, History, and the last 60 years proves that things the Bible fortold had come true without error. Science can barely predict the weather, yet the Bible predicted a great many things, most of which archaeology can validate.
Finally, I believe in God, because I feel His presence. I hear His words within my heart. I see His influence within my life. I am guided by His hand. His existance to me is as noticable as the existance of the computer right in front of me... and though I might close my eyes, and can no longer see the computer, does not negate its existance, but limits the way I can see it. So too with God, and though I do not see Him appearing to me in a physical form, I see His actions. Though I do not hear his actual voice with my ears, I hear His spiritual voice with my spirit and my conscience. Though I do not touch Him with my fingers, I feel His presence within my very nerves and within my heart.
It is a feeling somewhat akin to standing, facing a wall, and someone you love greatly, such as a parent, a child, a sibling, or a spouse, enters the room from the door opposite to you. You need not hear them, nor see them. You cannot smell them, nor taste them, nor touch them... yet, you can *feel* them. Their presence is made known to you. You feel them looking at you with love. You feel their warmth, despite not being close to you. It is something you know to be true, but simply cannot explain.

In my young life, I had always conceded the existence of a superior reasoning power, but I never really prayed.
My mother , the daughter of a pastor, used to make up scripture to guide me. It made some impact on my life.
In Viet Nam , I was in a really tight situation, being fired upon with out seeing the enemy, guys taking hits.I began to pray, realizing that I didn't know how.
I began believing , but something was missing. 14 years later After hearing the word of God take root. in my heart.
I became something that I never was before, I had a personal relationship with the Christ. From that day everything was changed and I look forward to eternity.
He is real and I take him in everything I do. I hide his word in my heart.

Because I have all sorts of characteristics like hope, determination, desire to progress and grow that simply wouldn't exist if I were no more than a biological organism. Such subjective feelings aren't necessary to survive yet I have them so I clearly have them for a purpose and that purpose must be that I am a spiritual being and a part of the divine consciousness. Or so I believe.

Because He believes in me. He knows me from head to toe. He knows exctly how many hairs I have on my head. He knew me before I was growing in my mother's womb. He loves be so much, that He gave up His one and only son Jesus, to be used as the ultimate sacrificial lamb of God, to die on the cross for my sins, long before I was even a thought in my mothers mind. I was a part of God's glorious plan back when He created Adam and Eve and has never forgotten me yet.
I can't say I have friends here on earth that will stand by me 24/7 the way I know God and His son Jesus does, and they forgive me in ways my friends and family cannot. I love and believe in God because He loves and believes in me. For He now and always will be greater than I am, or ever will be. For I am not worthy of this great love that comes from the Almighty God, who is my Father, Lord and Master.

I do not believe in God as there is a lot of things wrong with the bible as well as life in general.
1. In the bible it states that life began 6,000 years ago when it has been in existence for millions of years.
2. The bad things that occur in the world.
3. And my final and most convincing argument is the fact that fossil records show that there has been several apes that walked upright that over time have developed larger and more sophisticated brains as well as better development of tools with the science of carbon dating has painted a picture of evolution. AND THERE IS NOT ONE SHRED OF PROOF OF THE EXISTENCE OF GOD NOT ONE AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF DEITIES THOUGHROUT THE WORLD AND I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO GOD AT ALL!
Sorr about that I just hate all that religious bull****

If the Word of God is not in our hearts & on our lips how can we truly respond to your questin?
HEBREWS 11:1-3
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, Gen. 1.1 so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
JOHN 3: 16
16 ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I tried every thing, repeat every, before I gave God a chance and this is the only thing that has fitted, worked, and quelled my restlessness. I don't know how but there it is.
Believe me, a few years back I never would never have thought I will be saying something like this.

I have been given the grace of "faith" and I know that there is God. I cannot conceive of all the perfection in this world, the stars, moon, all of nature and all of created life could not be a random happening. God is the creator of all and I just know this in my heart.

I am a muslim coz i was born in a muslim house but i was not clear about my religion and then i started thinking about things around me that lead me to get knowledge about all the things that i do and i use and are related to me in any way and in some years i got a strong faith in Allah that He is the only creator and care taker of all in the universe and i do belive in His teachings from my heart and always try to be more closer to Him in the way He teaches me.
So any one trying to find a way can start with his/her own thinking and then learn and believe with its excellency to be assured of his/her own belief.
Today i am not confused and so clear to my self that even i can answer Allah (God) about my deeds and my belief. Alhamdulillah
