He does not smoke, but he said that he was sexually attracted to me because of my smoking style...I do not want to quit...but, I feel I should not have to hide it from his parents...I am not saying I should smoke around them, but I should not have to hide my cigarettes and smoking from them...What should I do...he is obviously turned on by my smoking but makes me hide it from some...

Your "smoking style"? I thought there was only one way to smoke a cigarette. I think you are making a big deal over nothing. If they don't like that you smoke, then so be it. Just be yourself, and don't worry what the parents think.

In modern culture, smoking has become socially unacceptable, and for some very good reasons. The guy you're dating is obviously infatuated by your "Dirty" habit, but doesn't want his parents to think of you as a "Social Outcast" - or rather, think of their son as someone who dates social outcasts. He probably gets a thrill out of doing something "Naughty" that he thinks his parents will not approve of. I would think that this will end in two ways: One, you expose his parents to the fact that you smoke, they don't care, it's no longer "Naughty," the thrill is gone, and he loses interest. Two, you keep it from his parents, he grows tired of this thrill, and moves on. In either case, I doubt this relationship will last, so do whatever you want, have some fun, and make the best of it.

I don't know how serious your relationship is, but if the two of are headed toward marriage (or long term status for those against the institution of marriage) they're going to find out eventually. The two of you need to sit down and really discuss the issue. What is he so ashamed of? Why can't/won't he stand up to his parent? How does he plan to hide this from his parents forever? Maybe he really wants you to quit but instead of coming right out and saying it he's using his parents as scapegoats.

Wow, I want to see how you smoke a ciggie. Is there a special way to do that? Well, his parents are not gonna marry you, your guy might. So why hide it from them?

Just be honest. What you need to is avoide smoking when they are present. It's just nice to show respect to them in that way yet just tell them the truth.

Yeah, there's just something about a chick who knows how to kill herself slowly and painfully.

Just stop hiding it. Parents aren't nearly as stupid as kids think they are.
