i have a 2year old female chihuahua/shih-tzu mix,i have had her for close to a year now,she has always been naughty and had many "mistakes" in the house, but recently she has stopped doing her buisiness on the floor and started going on our beds, she has no preference as to who's bed, either my children's or mine, who ever forgets to close the door, nothing in our lives have changed even a little,we have done nothing to her so she may be "punishing" us,she gets all the love and attention a little dog could ask for,i am a stay at home mom so she is by my side at all times,no matter how many times i let her out she still does this,we have tried the crate method but she just goes to the bathroom in her crate whether she's in it 5 minutes or 5 hours,Vet says there is nothing physicaly wrong with her,any helpful suggestions would be appreciated

Contact a good trainer first.
Crate training on small dogs requires very small crates. The dog should only have enough room to sleep. If the dog still messes leave the dog in the crate with the mess for about 15 minutes after discovery, then put it outside. Do not let the dog out of the crate at night and look into change the dogs food. Premium dog foods have a higher digestibility rate creating less mess. Place your dog on a watch and confine schedule for several weeks. if you cannot physical watch the dog, this includes placing the dog on a leash and being physically attached to the dog, the dog must be confined in the right size crate.

The dog is doing her business on the bed because she thinks that it is hers. I would start by not allowing the dog up on the bed at all, even if you are there. Don't allow the dog into that room when you are not home. you need to assert your dominance so that she knows that your bed is yours and hers is hers. Sometimes its bad to always give a dog what they want, this makes them think that they are in control of a situation when in fact they are not. When she goes in the house, don't punish her and then pet her, this gives her mixed signals. if you are upset, be upset and don't give her pity this only makes a bad situation worse. It might also help to put the dog on a schedule, say she goes outside 4 times a day, and thats it. giving a dog routine sometimes helps these situations. It may also help to give her treats and lots of praise when she does the duty outside like she is supposed to. Hope this helps!

The first thing you should do is crate him at night. In a crate small enough to sleep and turn around in but not big enough to potty in the crate and sleep elsewhere. At you may have to get up several times a night. Don't let him run around the house unattended during the day. If you can't place him in a penned area, then put a leash on him and have him attached to your wrist. If you do this then you will know immediately if your dog starts to position himself to pee or poop. Scoop him up and take him outside. Then pull all water around 7 pm. (3 hours before bedtime). Feed at the same time every day. This will help you find out when he will normally have a bowel movement. They will potty on a time schedule. Potty once again before you go to bed and first thing in the morning. (If your pup cannot hold it during the night you may have to get up several times to potty him). No dawdling getting coffee! Once you know his bowel movement schedule you can wait for him to go, just be more patient. Don't yell at him for potting in your house, just pick him up and take him where you want him to go. Always give a command like "Go potty" Use it every time you are where you want him to go. Also praise him like crazy! Let him know that is the behavior you want. Give it time it will work. He wants to please you. Good luck with the training! Follow up with obedience training.

Your little girl may be telling you she has a urinary tract infection.

If this is not her normal behavior and she is doing it "in front of you" she may be trying to communicate her needs.

If you cannot afford a visit to the vet, have her urine analyzed - it may have crystallized which is giving her pain as she urinates -- if it is a urinary tract infection - better to take care of it early then later - it is much more painful for her later. You can analyze it yourself - get a sample and see if shards are there. (remember the old biology lab in HS?) If there is - she has the infection.

I have one little girl - this is the only way she knows to tell me of her problem - and my vet is always in shock as we catch it in the very beginning.

go to any pet store and buy the pee pads or the spray and that should help. or if you want the dog to go outside, take the urinated bed spred and lay it outside and after a while...remove the spread and the dog should pee outside
