Aside from homeschool, or private school (cannot afford), are there any other avenues to explore for her education?

I HATED school all throughout junior high & middle school. I was barely a C student, and I wasn't involved in ANY extra curricular activities. Now I'm an accomplished 3d designer with a masters degree from an accredited university.

I wouldn't worry too much about her hating school. As long as she has a desire to go to college, you're good! Now if she DOESN'T want to go to college...you need to entice her by finding a good college with a writing program of some sort. Just focus on her continuing education...

What are her reasons for hating school? I was in advanced English and Math all through high school, but by my senior year I had enough credits to graduate, so I didn't elect either of those courses. Unfortunately, my counselor wouldn't allow me to opt out, and enrolled me anyway. He "didn't want to see someone in the top 1/3 of her class throw her life away". I was so angry that I refused to do ANY of my English work. The teacher didn't help. She was very uppity and rude to the middle- to lower-class students. My parents were so worried I wouldn't graduate, and they would buy me Clif Notes (how IS that spelled?? Did I say advanced English? =) haha) and rent the movies to books I was supposed to be reading! But I knew I would graduate. And I did!
My point is, find out what it is specifically about school she hates, and see if there is anything you can do to remedy that problem. Best of luck!

Most high school juniors hate school. Wait it out with her. She goes to school anyway and then one magic day she graduates and it's all over. Tell her that when she graduates she can hate the memory of school all she wants to. Two more years isn't going to kill her. When she's grown she can write a book about how much she hated it.

I was in the same situation in HS. Hated it, and I could write. Fortunately for me I found a charter school in my state that was an online HS! If you live in Ohio, look up ECOT (Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow). Otherwise, ask around your daughter's school office to see if a similar program is in place in the state you live in.

Let her take college classes. You'll have to pay for them, but you'll have to pay for them when she gets to college anyway. Plus it will allow her to leave her high school campus for a while (since she hates it), and get a feel for college life. Lots of high school students are allowed to leave their H.S. for a few hours a day if they take a class or two at a local college.

Encourage her to write. There are many on line sites that let you post your stories. I'd post links but the only ones I know are fanfiction.net and science fiction sites.
