I would absolutely love to give a home to a West Highland White. Have looked on the web sites but they are all £500+ Such a lot of money. Does anyone know where I can get this breed, perhaps just a little cheaper.

Look in the small ads of your local newspaper, thats what I did. My Westie cost £250 six years ago. I suppose the price will vary and will be dependant on where you live. A westie is a great little dog to have in your life and I would highly recommend you investing in one. They are such charming, entertaining dogs. Lots of people say they are yappy, snappy dogs but don`t believe it, my dog is nothing like this.

I have always wanted a Westie, but you would be far better getting a dog from an animal rescue centre. They have lots of them wanting homes for just a small fee to cover the costs of its vets bills etc.

I have a rescue dog that is a real Heinz 57 but she is very loving and kind - you never know, they may have one in the Kennels!

Awww, they are such a sweet breed, my mum bought a puppy one last year just outside Aberdeen for 280pounds, keep checking you local ads, or you could even try dogs homes and dog shelters, but they seem to be a popular breed at the moment, they are quite hard work so be prepared.

Try an animal shelter, you would only have to pay a small fee or donation.
If you cant afford the £500 to buy the dog would you have the money for vets bills as they can be very expensive if anything goes wrong, you would maybe be wise to get pet insurance.

I agree--rescue a dog if you can. Try this site--maybe there is a rescue close by (scrolls down about 1/2 the page to the Westies): http://www.dogpages.org.uk/breedt.htm

you get what you pay for I'm afraid. It costs a lot of money to keep a ***** in good health, pay a stud fee, then properly rear a litter of puppies, worm them, do innoculations. If you wouldn't mind an older dog try some rescue centres but bear in mind that they may come with 'issues'

How about rescuing a dog instead? Don't know where you are in the country but try your local rescue centre. Save a life...
