Attention and unconditional love from their parents.
A parent might not like something their child has done, but to feel secure that no matter how badly you might foul something up, that your parents are still there for you.... that's the best feeling a kid can have.
Let me be clear: I'm ~not ~saying that a parent should let a child 'get away' with wrongdoing. Rather, a child should take responsibility for their own actions as much as possible. You broke it, you fix it. You did the crime, you do the time.
BUT rather than the parent flying off the handle at the kid, if they're able to say something like "I don't like what you DID, but I still love you." That's what I'm trying to say.

Me and my husband spent a fortune on our kids for Christmas last year, and they had more fun playing with the boxes. I guess what makes them happy isn't what you would expect it to be!
The thing I remember most about making me happy as a child was having my mom around, didn't really care what we were doing, or where we were going, just as long as she was there with me!

Spending time with them. Letting them know every day how much they are loved and how they can be anything they want to be. Talk with them so that they know they are valued. They might be angry for a short time if they don't get everything they want but in the end they will adjust to people and life a whole lot better. They will also have better self esteem

Sunday supper! My family had a rule you must be present for Sunday supper. That's when everyone would get together and be heard everybody had a turn talking and offering advice. I carried this on with my kids and we also added that one person each week would bring some music or a book they really liked to talk about or listen too.

Quality of life, affection, fun, playing outdoors, lots of attention, teaching, activities, ambitions, communication, travel, adventure, new experiences, etc.
Less television and junk food. Maybe low-fat ice cream and fruit as treats or diet soda but not everyday.

LOVE...... My family was dirt poor growing up.. The days that my mom didn't have to work all three of her jobs to take care of me and my brothers.. She had a little time to take us to a park or something to that nature.. nothing in the world made me happier than those moments .. just feeling the embrace of her love and affection made me happier than all of the toys in the world could have..

LOVE!!! Praise & encouragement in all that they do, even the small achievements. Help to boost their self esteem & confidence. If a child is given love & affection they are able to give it in return!
