"All the King's horses and all the King's men,
Couldn't put humpty together again."

What the hell were the horses going to do? They don't have hands. If anything, they'd make the situation worse.

The horses were being ridden by the Health and Safety executives, who were called in immediately to investigate the accident. The wall builders had hell to pay - plus a hefty fine. Heads rolled - as did Humpty. Well at least he DID roll before he fell off ... after that he just kinda lay there in bits being trampled by the horses' hooves. Tragic.

Crowd control, to keep the mob at bay, and facilitate extraction of Humpty by conveying him swiftly to a medical facilty. Sadly, in this case, their best efforts were in vain, despite the rapid intervention of the Kings' men.

Nobody had an option. The men and horses came as a job-lot, for better or for worse.
