Hinduism is a form of the word "Indus" as it is just the name given by historians to the beliefs and practices of the early settlers of the Indus Valley region and those of the Indian Subcontinent (Dravidans). The beliefs included worship of the Natural forces , and following a strict set of rules (Sastras, Dharma), studying the Vedas and the Upanishads. These books were in fact compilations of the experiences of Supreme Knowledge gained by various sages. These books also included rituals and practices to be followed so that all the people of the society could prosper and attain Happiness.
