My mates and I were discussing this on the weekend. Is there any good reason why reservists (tri service) aren't allowed to do public guard duty at, say, Buckingham Palace? I'd only want the opportunity to do it once, it would be a great honour for us, our dress uniform looks great, and it would give the household cavalry a break. Anyone with me on this? I'd love to do it - if only once.

Thanks, MCP. You're one of the reasons I left the regular army after six years a Bombardier. C U N T

I'm a Gunner in the RAF Regiment Reserves, I agree with you, we are used to go to war and do the crappy stuff it would be nice to do something nice for a change.

Reserves are under appreciated by the full time forces but the appreciation is getting more as we spend so much time working with them now.

Rob G: You have no idea how hard we work to help suport the armed forces in the country. If it was not for the help of the reserves all units would go on tours short of trained people. I have to put my life on hold for 12 months from November to go the Iraq because the RAF is so short of full time gunners. Before you say if i donr want to go why do I do it...Its because im proud to be a gunner and I'm going to suporrt the guys that do this full time.

i was in the queens colour sqn,it takes a lot of people a lot of time to sort out these duty's,much more to it than standing still. it would be nice if others were to be given the chance, but it will never happen only the best drills men get there.

Shouldn't you be messing around on the river or something..... I have it on good authority that the household cavalry wouldn't let you clean up their horses cr@p let alone do guard duty....

on second thoughts.... hmmn.... how great is your dress uniform?????? I might have a few jobs for you if its that nice....
