Advantage saved my sanity. Some people like Frontline more. You can get either from the vet or an on line pet store. If the puppies are very young, or nursing, Please check with the vet before using any product. The over the counter flea products are a waste of money.

Sorry to hear that. Having had many pets throughout our years we have been in your situation a few times. At the moment 3 dogs, 1 cat and 4 kittens (do you want a kitten, just kidding).
First I agree with the other posters as far as treating your pets. Get reputable products from the vet. Don't waste your time and money buying pet store products. The vets line might be more costly, but cheaper in the long run. Believe me. Get a flea comb and groom them regularly till you see the sign of fleas or flea dirt disappear.
That is the easy part. Now the hard part, your home. Fleas are tricky little buggers that hide in every crack, crevice, carpet, and all your furniture. Depending how bad the infestation is, is what is going to direct your decision. Flea bombs can help. They are messy and many times take several attempts for success. For us we found that an exterminator was the best and most economical approach.

First, Do not use a flea dip or flea collars or anything you can get off the shelf at a pet store, go to a vet and get Frontline Plus, its the only stuff that i have found to work on all my dogs, make sure you are getting FRONTLINE PLUS! If the puppies are under 12 weeks old there isn't anything that is safe for them untill they are over 12 weeks, the only thing you can do for them is to wash them in Dawn dish soap, keeping it away from thier face. Next, get the dogs out of the house, bomb your house if you need to and make sure you wash anything the dogs sleep on in WARM water. The flea collars only keep the fleas away from their head and neck it doesn't so anything for the backs and rear, flea dips are very toxic to dogs and can more then likely make them sick.

You need spot-on flea treatments for them. Don't buy rubbish from the pet stores, go to a vet and get something like Frontline for them. The puppies may be too young for a dose, but if they mix with the adult dogs, then they will be treated by association as they rub against the adults. Plus, as fleas migrate from the pups to the adults, so they will contact with the treatment and die. The pups can be bathed, which will help to kill the majority of fleas on them at the moment, but their bedding and communal areas will need spraying with a good flea spray.

the best thing to do for the dogs is treat them with frontline or advantage. the pups if older than 9 weeks will be ok with the same. if younger a mild flea shampoo or pert plus will be fine. if the fleas are in the carpet you will need to fog. if its getting into the colder season where you live the fleas are trying to find warmth for the winter right now, this means in homes. getting the fleas of the dogs is easy. but the home is another story. once winter comes it will calm down.

The first things to do are to get rid of the dirt in the compound, clean up their kernel and wash ur dogs. Then get an "anti-flea" solution with which to wash them again. U might also need to monitor the other animals that come into your compound, like rats, cats and other pets that could be carriers of the fleas. If u are sure to have done all these, then get your whole compound disinfected.

Do not get store boat flea stuff. It could do a lot more damage then good. Go down to your Vet and ask them what you should get.
My cats had fleas bad last year. I got store bot flea shampoo. It almost killed one of my cats and it gave the other one a rash. My Vet gave me Pet line for the cats and for my house he gave us a new kind of spray. I payed under 50 dollers.
When you done Vacuum the house for top to bottem and throw out the bag. Do all the colths in the house and when sraying dont miss the corners.
good luck

The stuff the vet sells is the best when it comes to killing fleas and keeping them away. It's expensive but worth it.If the puppies are still very young there is stuff you can buy from the petstores that's mostly for young puppies it is calle De Flea and it is made with oatmeal.

Frontline Plus!
After about a week you will see no fleas on your dogs or in your house.
You must get from a vet or off of one of the petmeds sites or ebay(careful with that though some are outdated)
DO NOT! bother with dips or sprays or any other thing you buy from stores, If the pups are 9 wks old you can use frontline plus on them.

Frontline or Revolution every month for all pets in your home for as long as you have them!!! Revolution has the added bonus of preventing worms like heartworm, as well. Treat your home by removing all pets and using a flea bomb, then always use these products for prevention. Simply put, you will be free of fleas if you do this, and other parasites.
