I have a bottle of Perrier Jouet champagne that has been in my fridge for a couple of years. I want to take it out of the fridge and bring to a friend for his birthday, however he is several hours away and in doing so, it will cool off to room tempature in that time. I wasn't sure if this would somehow effect the champagne. Any thoughts?

Once you have chilled champagne, keep it as cool as possible. After years of being cold, the CO2 inside the bottle has actually begun to dissipate. Plus, which way you store it will have the most impact. If you have the wine laying on its side, then it should be fine. However, if it was standing upright, then over these years the cork could have dried our allowing some air to get in and possibly spoil the wine. For future reference, don't chill a bottle of wine until a day before you want to use it, especially something like Perrier Jouet which is quite expensive.

If you are driving put it in a cooler otherwise I don't think it will make a difference as long as it isn't opened. Perrier Jouet is almost as good as Crystal - enjoy!

Not a problem. The bottle seal and cork has kept it free from contaminants all this time. Until that seal is broken (opened) the contents will remain fresh. It is not a requirement of storing champagne that it be kept refrigerated.

It should not make a difference at all but if it still bothers you, just pack the bottle in an ice cooler and transport it cold.

I don't see a problem with this at all.

As long as it hasn't been open, that would be the problem
area. Also, you could keep it in a cooler while in transport.

good luck
