While it may eventually be used in conjunction with the "mark of the beast," they are not, by themselves, the "mark."
Remember, the mark is one of two things (or both together): "the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name [six hundred sixty six]." (Rev. 13:17b). It will only be found on the right hand or on the forehead (Rev. 13:16b), and no where else.

Why do people keep believing that the mark of the beast of Rev 13 implies some computer chip, barcode, RFID etc... Do you think God would care if you had such a chip, what has that to do with keeping His commandments, following the gospel etc.
Actually the awnser to your question about the mark of the beast carried in the hand OR forehead is given in my paragraph above. The mark of Rev 13 has to do with the authority of God, specifically keeping His commandments (all 10 of them). The hand symbolizes an action, the head symbolizes that what you believe.
Current world events are leading in the way such that Sunday sabath keeping are going to be inforced, you will be procecuted if you keep the true sabath (from friday sunset to saturday sunset), and that my friend is the mark of the beast.
I think God will be more concerned with people not obeying his commandments (all of them) than with carrying a chip in your hand

I think this will tie in. I believe the mark will be something that will be seen, not hidden, as a chip could be. But in order to control society, a chip or smart card would be needed. And what better way than an implanted device... very hard to take, and would always be on the person.
