I almost did. A nun has three vows (and usually a fourth depicted by what order she is from). I had two of them down pat, but the third gave me problems. Obedience is one I'm not good with.

Interesting. The truth is that there are what you could call “lazy believers” which means they are dedicated to their spiritual teachings and the idea of whether they are securing a place for their soul in the afterlife, but just in a lackadaisical way. Now, this is in no way to say that ALL people fall under this title or that those who do are lazy all the time – just that some do. Now when I say a lazy believer, I mean people who are aware of what they need to do here on this earth to get to heaven, and actually attempt to do what is right. However, they do not have the total dedication that let us say a priest or nun would have.
Often people look upon those highly devoted believers as somewhat reclusive (more so nuns here) and being a highly difficult endeavor – especially if they emphasize abstinence. So, while we want to make sure our souls go to heaven, we also lack the desire, proper knowledge, and possibly ability to be able to hold such a often ignored, and misunderstood position as a priest or nun. Moreover, having the "title" of a priest or nun would not automatically get us into heaven. Living our lives in a good, holy manner will - which we can do as we already are. This is just my opinion about it though.

ALL Born Again Christians are priests, which is a fact the Catholic Church doesn't want its followers to understand:
1 Peter 2:4-5 reads: 4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Also, 1 Peter 2:9-10 reads: 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
So, yes, we must ALL become priests in order to preserve our souls. This can only be done by being Born Again.
Peace.

Nuns and Priests are Catholic. Not all believers are called to be Pastors/teachers. But we are all commanded to spread the Word of the Bible. We are to tell everyone about Jesus Christ. If we lock ourselves away, we won't be doing what God commands. We also can't be afraid. We can't be afraid of what can kill the body, only of what can kill the soul. Jesus gave us a wonderful gift, whether we accept it or not is our choice.

If you are concerned about your salvation, seek God's will with an open heart and mind, and try to discover His particular plan for your life. Becoming a priest is the best possible path to follow, for those He calls to be priests. It is the worst possible path for those He doesn't call to be priests.

If someone chooses to go about that path, that is their own calling, but don't assume that they all must venture that path, that is a big calling and they don't have to prove or defend their religious views or beliefs by becoming a nun or priest

I am a priest of the wiccan faith, but aside from that, I am not worried about my soul or the soul of anyone else. I don't believe hell or heaven exsists.

That is not what priests and nuns are doing. They serve us in many ways one is in prayer for those of us in this world. We are all called differently and we must all answer that call.
