yes its ok if your pet dogs are hyper or very active. however if they can not work off the extra protein and fat they will become obese. so if thats the case switch back to an regular adult food.

it depends entirly on the age and activity levels of your dog. If you have an older dog, then depending on the protein level in the food, I would say no.Older dogs cannot process protein properly and it damages their kidneys. If you have a dog who isn't very active and doesn't get out for at least one good hard run every day, then no. Working dog food is high in protein so that active working dogs have the energy to run about all day long. If in doubt, check the protein levels on the label. I try to aim for around 20% protein since I have mostly older and adult dogs.Do not go higher than 22% for most older or not very active dogs.Puppies need a higher level of protein in their diet. Just have a look at the labels on the bags at the pet shop and compare them all. That way, you will learn what you are looking for.

It's really not a good idea to feed a pet dog on working dog grade food, as it will contain a higher level of protein than a pet dog mix. This may cause your pet to become hyperactive, if is not getting plenty of excercise. There are plenty of good pet-grade complete diets available. My advice would be to go for on of those.

If you've already got a bag I'd say finish that bag but no more. These foods are made with extra things that normal dogs don't need. It gives extra energy and is used to replace nutrients that they've lost while working. Just like those of us who drink Powerade,Gatorade,Propel etc.. these thing are made for athletes. People who work, and sweat out a lot of things needed. I see non athletes drinking this stuff and it has way too much sodium for the average Joe. That food is made for working dogs for a purpose.

Is your dog a working dog? Usually working dog type foods have extra calories in it to help working dogs. Look around for a food that suits your dogs activity level and age.

Too much protein is not good for your dog it can cause all sorts of growth problem in growing dogs, my dog had a similar problem because of the amount of protein in puppy food I was advised to feed her the cheapest food.

yes it is OK so long as your dogs are very active and you feed them there required amount. they may put weight on as there is extra protein and carbs in the food which provides energy for dogs like herding collies who work all day.

As long as your dogs are not getting fat it should be fine for them.
Food formulated for working dogs is usually higher in calories and sometimes fat to help keep weight on them when they ar burning lots of calories off.
Durring hunting season I increase my dogs food as much as a cup per feeding when they are hunting hard as they tend to loose weight.
As long as your dog likes it and stays at a good weight it is fine.
