you are RIGHT. you know a cricket commentator was sent out of his job for calling a south African player ( who is a Muslim with a long beard ) as a terrorist. he apologized immediately and even the player accepted his apologies but the T.V company chucked the commentator DEAN JONES out of his job. So yes you are correct.

I am, by no means, a Catholic, nor does the Pope hold any sway over me, but I support what he said. In full, the whole disertation was about "Violence and Religion are not compatible". However, certain radical Muslims took the single line that pointed towards them out of the context of the entire speech, and then acted out in violence, even to the death of one nun, and the burning of several churches (ironically, proving the point of the Byzantine Emperor whom the Pope had quoted).
Think of this : A textbook publishing company prints out a science book, which has a single line of, "The strong kill the weak, so the the strong will survive" (in context, it speaks of natural selection amongst animals, but how humans have overcome this, through various concepts like charity, Social Security, hospitals, etc). Now, you go out, believing yourself to be strong, and go and kill your cancer-ridden neighbor. Who is the radical and ignorant one? Who is the one full of hate? The one who sought to teach, or the one who reacted violently upon hearing a single line of text amongst hundreds of lines?
I would dare say that people, no matter what faith or non-faith they have, are mere sheep, following their leaders or what little bits and pieces they've heard... but that is belittling to both Christians and animals. No... people are much more like robots... do as you're told, believe as you've heard (even if it's not the full story).
You would do well to hear *both* sides of the story before making such rash judgements.

The Pope only leads the Roman Catholic Church... not all Christians.
And I wonder what the image of the Islam leaders are right now? Calling for a jihad on damn near everyone. Maybe they should step down? They're making Islam look horrible.

Never heard of a vatican pop, only a pope. You either didn't read the entire speech or you read it out of context. He was quoting another from the 14th Century. These were not his own words. He mentioned this prior speech because Muslim militants are violent and are proclaiming to kill in the name of Allah. According to the Qur'an it says that Muhammed himself promotes killing if the non-believers continue to not follow him. Muhammad was a sinner and admitted to being so. Muslim militants are following the words of a killer and sinner. Allah isn't this way according to Islam. Our pope didn't say anything new, this has been the views of Muhammed since he was alive. Our pope also was promoting faith and reason. When people don't agree with each other they should talk about it not kill each other. When Muslim militants killed a Catholic nun because they hated what our pope said, they proved that they are killers without reason. So our pope was right with his words.
Our pope never gives us a bad image and never will. He only speaks the truth. If others can't handle the truth then they should step back and reexamine their own faith.

What is wrong with you people. I'm a Muslim and I'm ashamed of how the idiots are acting. On one hand we say that our religion preaches peace and forgiveness and on the other hand we're demonstrating violently and blowing up stuff in our own countries because of what the pope said. He was disrespectful but blowing urself up or killing innocent people is not they way to prove urself to the world.
Dont be like our uneducated Mullahs...Show the world what Islam is really means. "Peace"

I dont agree with you.
I am a muslim myself and I agree that he made hateful comments, even those who are saying that he just quoted , if he didnt believe , he shouldnt quote.
But I disagree on your view , In my opinion the best way is that some muslim scholars who are almost equal to pop in Islam should have a talk with Pop , so both parties will understand each other better and their followers will do the same.
Unfortunately these days SOME christians close the doors to discussion and then call muslims ignorent.

You and all the ignorant muslims took it out of context and do not understand anything. The Muslims have such a shallow understanding of things that their immediate reaction to just about anything is to riot and then blow it up.
The irony is that the reaction of the muslims to the quote that the pope read pretty much proved the accuracy of the quote, so the muslims really have nothing to be upset about because they proved by their own actions that the quote was true.

1. The Pope was right about Islam. And the hateful reactions by Muslims proved it.
2. The Catholic Church is not a Christian church.
