Yes, definitely. Much easier.
Germans learn English in school and what they really like is that nouns have no gender in English. Nouns do have a gender in German and very often the gender is different in French or Italian.
Example: The moon=der Mond (Ger, masculine), but la luna, la lune in Italian, French
Die Sonne (Ger, fem) =the sun but le soleil (masc, French).
As you can see above some English and German words are almost identical. More examples: the Haus = das Haus, the mouse=die Maus, book=das Buch, boat=das Boot, etc. etc.
Also, the exposure to English culture, pop music makes English easier for us.
Hope this helps!

English is the easiest of all European languages to learn.
The only problem for foreigners is the fact that the way a word is written seems to have little to do with its pronounciation, where in any other European language you learn the rules and just go on applying them to every word you come across.
Otherwise English has the fewest morphemes and the simplest basic grammar and syntax.
And that's the reason it's becoming the most widespread second language. It's much easier for e.g. a German and a Russian to learn English than to learn one another's languages.
I can't for the life of me imagine why so many English speakers think their language was difficult.

I reckon they find the English language easier than other european and non-european languages. The some of the english words came from the Saxons anyway, others from French and Latin.

Its not that they find it easier its just that they start to learn the language at such an early age - its a well known fact that children under the age of 3 can learn a language almost without effort. As we get older it gets more and more difficult until, at the age of 12, its really tricky. Begs the question y we wait until that age before we start to teach our kids!
Did you know (for all you parents of toddlers out there) that if you buy foreign langyage DVD's and play it to a toddler they will start to learn the language without any further assistance. Clever, these little buggers aint they?

European languages abide by similar rules and structures, while English is a complete mess. The only reason is slightly convinient to learn is that it's everywhere.
