Why do you think it is that US golfers are so good at individual strokeplay competitions compared to Europeans, and yet the Europeans thrash them at team strokeplay. This isn't intended as a "ha ha, you got gubbed" question, I'm really wondering why this is the case.
The last European to win a Major was Paul Lawrie in 1999, and the last European on the Ryder Cup team to win one was Olazabal at the Masters of the same year.
Since then, US golfers have won over 20 Majors, to Europe's none.

What's interesting is that the Europeans trashed the Us in the Sunday singles matches this year as well. so, this year, Europe was probably a better team from top to bottom, even in the individual sense.

It is crazy that all non-Americans have endured such a drought in the majors. I realize that Tiger woods is a huge factor here, but even he doesn't win all the majors, so it is surprising.

As for the Ryder Cup, I think US gave it their best this year, but it just never happened, probably because Europe just really "gets up" for this event. While many picked Europe to win this year (but certainly7 not by this decisive a margin), they seem to bond with something resembling an underdog's mentality. Their camaraderie just seems more genuine, even when compared to the US' celebration in 1999.

Could it be that Europeans are good team players, whereas Americans are more individualistic? Also, the way the teams are managed has a crucial bearing on the result, so maybe the Europeans are better at stategic thinking.

There is another factor at play this year, namely, that Europe has strength in depth - all its players are very strong, even if some are not absolutely outstanding, whereas America has one or two truly excellent players (e.g. Woods), but this excellence does not run through to the last team member.

But, like in all sport, some times one country/team is the top dog, and then a period in the wilderness occurs - but no one team stays in the lead position for ever, so maybe America will do better next time.

When you say Americans you mean Tiger Woods in the main, who is responsible for 12 majors. Many non USA/Europeans have won majors too, Mike Weir, Retief Goosen, Ernie Els. American golfers are slipping down the world rankings too, just 3 in the top ten.
As three of the 4 majors are played in the US with limited invites to non Americans it's hardly surprising that they'll win more of them!
The USPGA should be removed from major status to be replaced wby a South African or Australian open.

The americans stink , in anything they didnt invent!

Darren Clarke !! Yes he lost his wife, but even otherwise, goddamm he played, the PUtt on 12th on sunday! My god !

I think the americans have just proven that they are conceted as a nation, they dont have a US national team worth its weight in any team sport. Whenever they play thier "SELF INVENTED TEAM SPORTS" its always "ALL AMERICAN" look at NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA its all thier own sports and thier own championships.

Its hightime they played real international sports as a team, SOCCER for example, its a global sport, why do they get shot out in the leagues.

At the Ryder cup, they proved that they were not a team , weak knuckle punches, no bonding, bad body language, it was all a mess ! Look at the fire Sergio & Lee Westwood carried, just to name the top 2 most fired. the eurpoeans at thier worst hugged eachother after a put went in, More often than not they stopped short of humping legs!
But our "AMERICANS" you didnt see a high five even. You cant win team sports without having that "to die for" spirit, not at this level.

I think they need to sit down and understand that there is a world beyond the red white and blue, 5.7Billion people live there and each and everyone is better than you! Ryder cup just proved that americans are all fart !
